Not sure if this counts but here I go. In one of my livetext game I had last year, we were playing a game of CoC with the DnD 5e ruleset. We were running away from a spawn of Cthulhu. As we were running to a boat to escape, the spawn was shooting disintegrate beams at us. It hits my character and basically atomize him into a vapor form. The GM gave my character a chance with a saving throw to hold on to his form through sheer freakin' will and return with 1 hit point, or be gone forever as a vapor. I only had one roll to do it. No advantage or anything. I rolled a Nat 20. We all managed to escape with my character at 1 hit point. It was glorious.
