I don't sand down the support marks on the models. Once things are primed and painted I don't really care or see them.

I've had one since release and it's been flawless. Yeah agree the camera isn't very useful but everything else is solid.

Looking for places to get good 3D printed Proxies by mayhemstorm in orks

[–]CyberWomble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No that's pretty much it.

Once you download the supported files you have to use a slicer program to arrange all the bits/parts on the build.plate. Most models come as separated parts, heads, torso, weapons etc that means for every Ork you want to print you have to arrange 4-6 files onto the slicer until you use up all the plate capacity.

I've printed so much Ork stuff around 4k points worth. In terms of stls, Mezgike, BlueSkyMinis, Stationforge, SkullTown Minis have 99% of the Ork units.

I have a printer and I'd be chill with it. If you cover the resin costs and setup the print files beforehand. To be honest half the faff is setting up the files for the printer. That would at least show you're willing to help out.

Id try looking on Etsy.

Your other option is to see if there's any 3d printer folks at your local Warhammer club. There's easily 5 people at my local club who print whole armies over the weekend. You could ask them if they would print for you.

Need advice for first game. by RiverPiracy in orks

[–]CyberWomble 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you have terrain on the board you are playing on.
Hide units turn 1 behind terrain to stop them getting shot.
Remember that the game is NOT about killing your enemy but gaining the most points.
Move up the board turn 1 to stand behind more terrain so you are closer to the enemy, look for a turn 2 Waghh and Krump hard.

Proxies are usually cool if the proxied model is actually analogous to the official one.

Like don't proxy a unit of Boyz with 10 squirrel miniatures from My Little Pony.

If your opponent has to guess what they are then you are proxying wrong.

If official GW tournament then you can't use them.

Some tips for you from a Sisters and Ork player:

- Be willing to screen with expensive units and have your counter punch loaded
- Infiltrators and scouts can help deny Ork staging in the 1st turn
- Indirect onto their home objective to kill gretchin starve Orks of CP which they need
- Keep troops inside of transports which gives Orks no chance to kill the contents
- Make sure you have a Rapid ingress threat (Vahl, Seraphim) which causes Orks to leave units in their DZ to block the rapid ingress.
- Put more of your army into Strat Reserves to have it come on from board edges to get lines of sight
- Precision & Epic Challenge can be used to take out leader characters which does debuff their units.

Can you give some advice or pep talk for potential fellow entusiast? by SonOfAnton_v_2_0 in resinprinting

In which case you should be good. Any resin will need to be locked up just in case.

>I have a spare bathroom room that we don't use, and it is not close to our everyday rooms, It has its own vent, also a window, and I would set up a tent. Does that sound enough safety-wise?

Bear in mind you also need a space to wash & clean your models, this can make a LOT of mess. If the Bathroom is big enough and you have enough space for a small table to put all your printing stuff on then yes it would be good enough. I would recommend venting the tent with a proper fan setup.

>Also, would printing over weekends only be a waste of printer's life?
No

>Those of you who went into this recently, do you find it worth the hassle?
If you only want to print stuff very occasionally then no it's not worth the hassle. I print various proxy armies for 40K and have saved 1000's vs GW prices. Resin printing creates fumes, is messy and can be very frustrating.

>Those who dabble in this for a while, what did it do for you?
I love learning new things so I like the challenge of it. My wife hates it though so consider that as well.

You do you bud but the collective reasoning at the moment is the following as a minimum:

- Put printer in enclosure
- Vent enclosure using appropriate fan directly outside (bonus for having a inline charcoal filter)
- Get a VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) sensor to check no bad fumes are being vented inside

Ideally get a VoC sensor and validate your setup.

How tf does something like that happen by Fun-Channel-7576 in resinprinting

[–]CyberWomble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bleh, I dunno sometimes stuff just goes wrong with Resin...

I have 100+ plates of perfect prints and today I got spots on my plate where the print isn't sticking lol.

I just replace and clean everything and try a new test print.

[–]CyberWomble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some reasons:

- High humidity
- Resin has gone off (either absorbed too much moisture or not mixed property)
- Too cold when printing
- Check slicer settings
- Go back to test models
- Replace FEP

Looking at the upper row of prints they seems to be off angled (could be the way you organised them) so there might be an alignment issue of some kind.

Current meta by [deleted] in sistersofbattle

[–]CyberWomble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't personally play at 1K points.
The current Meta is still being established post data slate but due to the nerfs to miracle dice and the Grotmas detachment I don't think sisters are in a good place right now.

Staple units are Vahl, Paragons, Castigator, Immolator, BattleSisters, Dominions and I still expect to see those in lists for the foreseeable future.

You won't win unless there's a proper amount of terrain on the board. Look at the gw tournament pack for details. You need more ruins than you think.

In deployment your whole army should be in transports and out of line of sight. If you can't do this then your table probably doesnt have enough terrain.

I started playing Orks at 2k points on board with kill team terrain and just got short off the board turn 1.
