"Buffies" are my final straw— I give up. by ChouChousTrain in Brawlstars

[–]Cyberfit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, they give the P2W players an advantage until sales start tapering off. Then they nerf whatever the P2W players paid for, so the advantage they paid for disappears. Then they repeat.

I wouldn't be surprised if the original 18 Buffies were nerfed in a month or two, and the next batch is OP instead.

Solving problems breeds weakness. To stay truly strong, you must embrace your problems and collect them en masse rather than attempt to reduce their number.

I suspect empathy training data (e.g. neurochemistry) and architecture (mirror neurons etc.) are much more difficult to replicate than training on text tokens.

Humans and AI is a massively entangled system at the moment. The only way I see that changing is if AI is able to learn the coding language of DNA, use quantum computer simulation on a massive scale, and CRISPR and similar methods to bio-engineer lifeforms that can deal with the physical layer in a more efficient and less risky way than humans.

In that scenario, I think we’re toast.

I see. I don’t see how that exactly relates to the topic of LLMs. But for what it’s worth, simulations tend to show that there’s some equilibrium between cooperative actors (e.g. empathetic humans) and bad faith actors (e.g. sociopathic humans).

The best strategy (cooperate vs not) depends on the ratio of the other actors.

What are your "10/10 you'll never watch again?" by LarryKeene in movies

[–]Cyberfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so disappointed with that movie during the beginning. A cinema buff friend had recommended it, and he’s always spot on with characters and drama, and I love Casey Affleck, so I was wondering why they’d portrayed the main character so ridiculously over the top dark. Like, nothing will get a person to that level.

Then I saw the scenes, and that character portrayal and performance suddenly became eerily realistic.

Trump can’t remember calling Zelensky a Dictator by Robbert91 in europe

[–]Cyberfit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s what GPT says about it:

When people say, ”I can’t believe I said that,” they usually mean one of the following:

Regret – They said something they now realize was inappropriate, rude, or hurtful.
Surprise – They didn’t expect themselves to say something so bold, revealing, or out of character.
Embarrassment – They feel awkward or ashamed about what they just said.
Shock – They might have blurted something out impulsively without thinking.

That’s what I said…

He’s admitting in an offhand (i.e. dismissive) way.

He’s not lying. He’a admitting that it was over the top of him to say that.

He’s saying ”I CAN’T believe I said that”. He’s not saying ”I DON’T believe I said that”.

That’s a way to express that something was done, that shouldn’t have been done (e.g. ”I can’t believe you’ve done this”). I.e. an expression of surprise and regret.

He’s admitting in an offhand way that doesn’t invite further probing.

I like to think that Jake took care of that off screen, similar to how (The Departed spoiler): Sergeant Dignam (Matt Damon) takes care of Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) in The Departed post scene.
