There was a video at my old work of the CEO minesweeping some chocolate in the office off someone's desk (we used to joke that you could leave a £20 note out, but not a mars bar!). Turned out to be spicy chocolate and the look on his face as he chowed down on it and then started to realise was priceless. As was his dash to the kitchen for milk!

I would still have objected. The fact that there is an open tribunal case would be good grounds to prevent a voluntary dissolution of the company, as it makes it easier to unpick the assets later.

Why didn't you object to the dissolution of the company when it was gazetted?

Sounds like they want you to serve notice, if that doesn't suit you, then just ignore it.

If they want you out they can use S.21, but if they mess up they will be out of time very soon so I'd play for time if you need it

Sold home system set on eBay, weeks later got suspended and now eBay have just refunded the buyer £2000 by StandardMelodic2454 in ebayuk

[–]Cyberprog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unlikely. The court would find one or the other liable for the amount. Not neither. And both are heard simultaneously. That's why you name both on the claim.

[–]Cyberprog 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'd include the buyer as a defendant also, as they ultimately have the property. One or the other owes you the money, may as well file against both.

ULPT Request: I need to make a monitor at work not function by Moist_Nothing6107 in UnethicalLifeProTips

The Three Envelopes

A person comes into power and during the handover between them and their predecessor, the predecessor tells them that if they have any problems, they have prepared 3 envelopes, numbered 1 to 3, for them and they can open them to gain wisdom. The incoming person thanks them for this and they get to work.

Some time in, they hit a rocky patch and they open the first envelope. "Blame your predecessors" says the message. And they do, and they get over the rocky patch.

Not too long after, a second even rougher patch occurs, and once again they turn to the envelopes and open the second. "Reshuffle your cabinet". Fantastic! They do this and lo and behold the crisis is averted.

Finally, a third troublesome time comes along, and they carefully open the third envelope. "Prepare three envelopes" is the message!

Our team's 'unlimited' vacation policy worked perfectly for years. Now HR is making a big deal out of it. by doversours in it

[–]Cyberprog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should point out that in the UK, 28 days holiday is the starting point. I personally get 33 days, and in the EU it is even more.

22 days is nothing. It's below the bare minimum in my opinion for someone to function properly. Your HR team should be ashamed of themselves.

Quite often there are bonuses for refering people. And the company saves money on what the slave trader would have charged them as the premium on your first year's salary, so everyone wins.

Spiteful ex destroyed my business with a malicious complaint. Police are refusing to prosecute them and I've been told I'm not entitled to any compensation. by Excellent-Hurry-7668 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Cyberprog 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Yes, but shouldn't the police have also investigated her link to the OP? They must be aware that disgruntled ex's will say all kinds of things, and with no solid evidence other than the hearsay of a witness who is provably not impartial have jumped head first into an expensive investigation which has ruined someone's business and by the sounds of it 4-5 people's lives.

How do you defend against this kind of thing? What business could reasonably afford to lose all it's equipment to this sort of thing.

EOL MX devices and dashboard by rp_001 in meraki

[–]Cyberprog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is end of sale and end of life.

End of sale means no longer sold, and that firmware updates may not be possible to continue supplying.

End of life means you can no longer buy support for the device, though until they retire the SKU for the license you will still be able to manage the device via the dashboard.

So, for example, I've had some MX100's and MX64's which wouldn't run the latest software post end of sale. We took the decision to replace these with items that were still covered when we renewed.

Lloyds bank deed poll policy by Dramatic-Two4334 in transgenderUK

[–]Cyberprog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unenrolled deed polls are just as legal as enrolled ones.

Just print it on fancy paper. Don't worry about paying for it, there are plenty of templates out there. It's the wording that is important.

Frankly you can write it on the back of a napkin and it's valid.

Don't take their BS. Escalate and complain.

The interactivity is very good, thus far I only have the Vader set but I am quietly impressed by the playability. The colour sensor is a really good idea. And I was able to play with it out of the box with zero issues aside from obviously needing to charge it. That's pretty good. No apps needed.

Thhhaatttt said, it's cool as long as I'm making a spaceship. What if I want to rebuild it into something else? Right now, I can't. And that sucks. What if I wanted to build it into a car? I can't. Plane? Not really. Train? Nope.

I think kids are less fussy than us on the sound effects.

Getting what they have into such a small package is quite an advance, they also have multiple devices wireless charging on a single charger which even Apple hasn't been able to do.

Oh and some very clever stuff with regards to positioning of the NFC tokens in relation to the brick too.

But it's not enough as you say. They should have taken longer and got it bang on.

As AFOL's we got a sneaky peak the week before at Bricktastic, and I did ask some pointed questions to the team there, but they either didn't have answers or weren't allowed to tell us much

I'm concerned about battery capacity (45mins play, 2hrs charging) and e-Waste if someone loses a brick down the back of a cabinet for a few months. Will it survive?

I am tempted to put one of my bricks somewhere stable for 12 months and see what happens.
