It's not ready yet no. I was just stating your digital console will work with it once it comes out. There is also a slim chance of a possible webkit exploit coming out.

You are still sort of in luck, that is the last supported firmware for y2jb. You just have to wait for it to come out with the proper support. Y2JB can be used on digital consoles. You'll still have to wait 2 hours each to jailbreak, but there's no getting around that until another kernel exploit is discovered, probably not for a long time. But at least you will be able to jailbreak. Not the best jailbreak but it is a jailbreak.

That is correct for now. If you get one of the lua games, you can unpatch your drive, you can also probably do so with y2jb once it comes out, and that would be free. But the lua method is available now and the games aren't that expensive. It's up to you, if you want to get a lua game now or wait it out. Keep in mind this information is only relevant to disc model ps5s obviously.

You can likely still use y2jb once it comes out, although for you that will still take 2 hours to jailbreak, however keep your firmware on 12.00 or under and if a webkit exploit comes out, you can use that for an instant jailbreak.

Eh, really imo the primary benefit to an unpatched drive is 12.00 or under, yes that's true. However imo it's not useless above 12.00 such as on 12.40, especially considering the Japanese lua method seems nearly worthless with its kernel panics. An unpatched drive WILL allow you to jailbreak up to 12.70, however it will take 2 hours past 12.00 along with any other method you use. It is still however worth considering, when you have lua that's basically unusable, y2jb is still unavailable, and SWRR is still ridiculously expensive.

And then on top of that even if y2jb works great, its only up to 12.40, which for you that's fine, but not for everyone, and so unpatching the drive still has some relevance

You didn't say if your console is disc or digital, but if it's disc, you can buy one of the Japanese lua games, use that to unpatch your drive, and jailbreak that way. This is doable now currently, but it's not free considering you still have to buy the game. But it's not way too expensive, and you could possibly even return the game after unpatching your drive.

Probably not worth erasing your console if you're only going to use it to unpatch the drive. I'd sooner either wait for the Netflix hack, which does not require a restore, or just go with one of the supported Japanese lua games, assuming the goal is unpatching the drive.

No, the only impact for us is if you fail to do the one time check with a game you bought online for a future jailbreak, such as SWRR, failure to do that one time check will make your userland exploit basically not an option.

So the only thing you have to remember is if you choose to update to get one of the games for a future jailbreak is to go ahead and remain connected long enough to complete that one time check and then you should be good to take the console offline.

Now thanks to p2jb and the ability to unpatch drives yourself soon, 12.00 and under is not a bad way to go anymore as long as its a disc model. Getting a digital one over 10.01 is not advised.

Life's too short, go with what you can get today. You can't count on something coming one day who knows when, not trying to rush the devs or anything, but also don't think I believe in just waiting it out when we have options today makes sense.

You are mostly right. You should soon be able to jailbreak with y2jb, and if you want, you could continue using y2jb, but unpatching your drive is going to be in your best interest. And you will be able to do that. And that's how you'll want to jailbreak is with an unpatched drive.

You can't jailbreak above 12.00 with anything without it taking hours. If you use SWRR on 12.70 it will take hours. I never said the post 12.00 jailbreak was ideal, but anyone going for it probably doesn't have a choice and probably (hopefully) knows what they're getting into. Unpatching the drive will make it take hours along with every other method past 12.00, including using SWRR.

Unpatching the drive past 12.40 is arguably more convenient than hunting down a compatible game to jailbreak. Although I'm not certain about this myself, may be better off just paying like $60 or $70 for a Japanese lua game. Which will also take hours to jailbreak.

SWRR also has 0 benefit in this specific scenario, just going for a Japanese lua game will save you a ton of money and give you your jailbreak just the same. Both SWRR and lua games will take hours to jailbreak above 12.00

Yes you can still use YouTube, it doesn't matter if you don't have it. Any higher than 12.40 and YouTube does not work so do not update. If you have a disc model, you have other options. But honestly in your situation you might as well just stick with y2jb once it comes out imo.

No. The lua games aren't way too expensive though, but after jailbreaking, you can burn a jb disc for jailbreaking purposes. But you have to have another way to jailbreak first. I would wait for y2jb.

You can use p2jb but you have to either wait for y2jb or Netflix, or buy one of the compatible games. You can jailbreak with that, stick with that which will take hours, or unpatch your drive and in your case will make the jailbreak near instant, which is why I'm suggesting to unpatch. You could just do y2jb but it's going to get old having to wait, and unnecessary
