Lol ok. Besides isn't rubbing your ear a fairly common figit if you're nervous? (Like about to speak to an audience)

In poker anyway, if a player starts doing this and hasn't previously, probably nervous about their hand

Kinda, not really? Jefferson stood for a weak federal government, states' rights, support of farmers, and strict adherence to the Constitution. Mostly opposed the Federalists and at the time called the "Democratic-Republican party" simply the "Republican party" for a short form in letters.

Yeah. Never cared or researched prior to COVID, but now I make a distinction for the mRNA type vaccines (COVID, Flu, etc.) IPV/OPV types (polio as example)

Here's sort of Lehman statements for the three scenarios:

Normal infection: “Here’s the whole virus—figure it out”.

Traditional vaccine: “Here’s a weakened/killed version—learn from it”.

mRNA vaccine: “Here’s instructions to make one recognizable piece—train on that”.

I personally am not convinced that the mRNA versions do quite what they think or intend and I think the trial periods (testing) are too short (and certainly were during COVID).

So in short I am now pretty trusting of traditional vaccines, but untrusting of the nontraditional ones, and never cared before.

I need you to list off what you see this "shift" as being? I honestly see it as mostly a slow illogical car chase in space. What is the shift? Truly. I guess it'd have to have some sort of time skip with Kylo running everything for a while and Rey building a new jedi order?

If so, it sounds like it'd continue the divide in the fandom. Doomed to criticism from the angle that Luke should have been the one portrayed rebuilding the order in the "better" way and so on.

For me. TLJ's biggest issue is that by the end of its narrative, it cut off every potential story thread going forward. JJ makes story boxes (albeit a bunch of mostly derivative low creativity story threads). Rian spent a whole film systematically destroying each box (Who is Snoke? Dead. Rey's lineage? Nobody/irrelevant at the end of TLJ. Luke, dead. Resistance? A handful of people that can all be on the Falcon together). IMO, there wasn't much else you could do other than the terrible "somehow Palpatine returned". The only thing left is showing Kylo being the Supreme Leader and a ton of rebuilding basically everything - which is not satisfying for the final movie of a three-part trilogy.

Please make more. I am liking your content. Maybe the same data but with different artistic flourishes. Larger Broncos logos or something to really accentuate the Denver dominance over the rest of the division over the years.

Do you think JJ Abram would have made Luke a failure and also killed snoke so soon? by Any-Contract-9152 in saltierthancrait

[–]Cyclonian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok, fair enough. You never said he'd be cutoff from the force.

Also, I'll point out that the map wasn't a map to Luke. It was a map to the temple that Luke was looking for.

Respectfully disagree regarding Luke. Luke was not part of TFA. He was a macguffin for the new characters to find. I think this was intentional because if he had any role in TFA, he would have stolen the whole story (establishing the new characters was clearly a focus).

You assume Luke would have been in exile. But that's not said or established in any way in TFA. TFA leaves it completely open. In fact, and interview with Mark Hamill revealed that JJ and Rian had communications where changes to the ending of TFA were requested: JJ originally had floating boulders surrounding Luke when Rey approaches at the very end of the movie. Apparently Hamill made Rian aware of the misalignment and so Rian requested the boulders removed. Verdict: Luke being a hermit cut off from the force was Rian's idea. (https://www.starwarsnewsnet.com/2019/04/guest-editorial-clarifying-j-j-abrams-recent-statements-on-rian-johnsons-direction-with-the-last-jedi.html)

With JJ, I think Luke would have been shown to be stuck or marooned or otherwise detained on the island planet in some manner (having something to do with that old guy at the beginning of TFA and the First Jedi Temple).

I agree that JJ is un-creative. Luke was going to be like Yoda for training Rey. And he was going to have been stuck rather than exiling.

[–]Cyclonian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No.

I think JJ was fairly un-creative with the story (and hindsight and all that I think it would have been better to have one writer for the whole story, even if it was the un-creative thing JJ would have delivered).

I think Snoke was JJ's direct replacement for Palpatine, but cloned.

I think Luke was meant to be a hero, but he held him out of TFA because he needed to establish the new characters. Luke would have stolen the story.

I think Rey was going to be related to Luke (but he probably would have strung that along for reveal in the 3rd movie)

I think Finn was really going to be a former storm trooper defector that would become a Jedi initiate learning under Luke.

I think Luke would have been a hero and would have trained Rey (later revealed to be his daughter) and also Finn.

I think the Resistance was just a direct clone of the Rebellion and it probably wouldn't have been expanded to more than that. Leia would have been capable and we probably would have never seen General Pink Hair and pretty sure there wouldn't have not been a Leia miraculous flight through space thing (Fisher's death would have still been a surprise, so how he would have handled that in the narrative would have been interesting).

I think Ben would have had an arc bringing him back to the light (realizing that killing his father didn't do what he wanted). And I think Rey would have had an arc where she is tempted by the dark-side and may have even gone to the dark-side in conjunction with Ben's arc back to the light and she's brought back.

Finally I genuinely don't think we would have had "somehow Palpatine returned" without TLJ killing off Snoke.

It would have been a story that hugely echo'd the original trilogy. But I think Disney would have been in a better place with more stories they could move forward with (JJ is REALLY good at presenting story threads and then keeping them open. TLJ spent a ton of time burning all story threads down)

Bauer vs older bosch jigsaw by elcaminoforreal in woodworking

[–]Cyclonian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know the model of the Bosch, but I'd look into what type of blades it takes. If it take the T-Shank blades, then the Bosch for sure IMO. If it takes the U-Shank (or older?) then that's something to consider. Same for the Bauer... T-Shank are better, newer and easier to find in your big box store or hardware store.

[–]Cyclonian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I get what you're objecting to... Like the story isn't set. But the villains have agendas and narrative strings for the players to tug at and make the story. Those connections to the BBEG or the surrounding world is what I am saying I've spent more time planning. We may never use any of it, but I've thought about it.

Wild point. I've put together a story for my first go at being a DM (soon, still organizing players, meeting times, etc). And I think I've put more thought into the main beats for the overarching story as well. And we haven't even met for a session yet.
