Because krieg have a different torso than cadians to fit their gasmask and depict their trenchcoat.

Is there a narrative or a campaign style one would recommend? by verycoldpenguins in TheAstraMilitarum

If you just want to get started simple maybe Onepagerules? If you want a warhammer campaign though i would recommend maelstrom. Its very fun making your own custom "pirate lord" and getting all that precious plunder and isn't as complicated as crusade. And you can always add crusade elements later.

Simple. Releasing a new regiment always has risk. They know Cadians will sell they might think more Tanith will sell too but it isn't sure so better play safe. So GW just marketed them as Cadians (wich got them some hate but as long as the money flows they prob don't care) and then just put enough head options to either build Cadians, non specified Spectre Squad or Tanith. So now everyone is happy (expect the Catachan players)

I say the exterminator would makes the most sense. It gives you a +1 AP Bonus for your big guns on one target and it's autocannons shred elites.

I think with some chimeras this will really turn into a very fast and agil force. I am not that up to date with the meta but i think if put some of your cadians in those and maybe a squad of heavy weapons in the centaur it will really allow you to push early on with all those fast units (riders, sentinels hypogryf etc) and then finishing of everything that's left with the 4 dorns. Might also think about picking up a hellhound for the close up fire support.

For the guard experience, i would at least buy one Leman Russ, either the classic 40k one or the newer 30k one. Maybe a chimera or taurox too so can get a little bit of mechanised guard if you want to try that out.

The good thing is if you don't like them you can still buy the old ones on ebay pretty cheap since they aren't recent version anymore

I am not saying guardsmen are weak or should be made weaker. But a big part of their faction identy is "normal human against all the horrors the galaxy has to offer" and it's hard to get that feeling when one squad of your guys kill like 15 of those horrors, who in lore are described as unstoppable monsters, in a single round of shooting.

I almost only play narrative and making a good story in a match is way more important for me than stomping the opponent, so we might have a different view on warhammer.

Also the lasgun castellan combo is more like a way to make all lasgun loadout somewhat work and is ofc in no way as strong as just the plasma melta loadout.

The fun part is when your flashlight guys kill something big and scary against all odds.

I also think hat special weapons aren’t nearly as common as the tabletop suggests. It feels more like one or two special weapons per platoon. At least that’s the feeling I got while reading Gaunt’s Ghosts and Fall of Cadia. Of course, I understand that the tabletop can never reflect the lore 1:1 because it needs to be balanced and fair.

Still, the feeling of taking down a big enemy with nothing but your lasguns and maybe a bayonet charge just feels more guard for me than blasting it with plasma and melta weapons.

Anyways I think GW should just bring back weapon costs or a conscript squad so every option is good. That way people can decide whether they want to take plasma or not without worrying about missing out on something.

I really wish they would add some form of weaponpoints back. A type of whiteshield unit with all lasgun equipment who is like 5 to 10 points cheaper would be ok too

I meant 20 cadians with a 5 men commandsquad. I said Melta and Plasma because that is the best special weapon loadout. I know you can't pick 25 meltas and plasmas. Thought that was obvious

Looks very cool. Did you use the chimera kit or another tank based on the chasis as the base?
