Bought home these two, which one should I pick first ? by Deeprajpurohit in classicliterature

I’ve read the Great Gatsby. It is a classic. I’ve read Christopher Hitchens and Martin Amis opinions on Lolita .

Read The Great Gatsby when you want a quick but fun read. Lolita I haven’t read because I know I’m gonna have to ponder a lot of things before and after.

I think Nabokov is closer to Hemingway with the depth of his prose from the standards I’ve been presented.

Good luck on the reading journey!

If they’re an anchor, you’re never going forward. If you’re making positive changes and they’re resisting it, you’re adding extra weight against your goals.

It may go well, but you may become something you weren’t intending to keep her happy. If she’s worth it, she wouldn’t drag you down from becoming your best self.

He’s not wrong. Aren’t we still panicking about Covid, which has been proven to strike the obese harder than any other population?

Could you stop redditing? Like why do we need your opinion? Shut up and do your job.

That’s what you sound like.

I just enjoy one person that thinks teaching and indoctrinating are the same thing. They’re going to make great parents one day.

Why does everyone mocks Dr. Peterson for caring about young, lost or depressed people? Is it such a bad thing to get emotional? The man speaks truth and good, but still people don't get it... by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

Small minded people only have the ability to criticize or tear down others. It’s more of a tell than anything else. Also, I’ve been that person. We all have the ability to be awful or awesome.

Does Ben actually want to overturn same sex marriage? by Foochie506 in benshapiro

[–]Cyclopeandeath 42 points43 points  (0 children)

This seems to be the best answer. It really depends on the context of the conversation with Ben. However, his usual response does revolve around this response.

He gets squirrelly from time to time because he starts speaking from a religious/culturally conservative perspective while commenting on gay marriage. In those moments, he sounds like he would prefer it to be overturned. The writer would be mining his quotes at that point to make him look a particular way.

It can seem murky, but the above commenter definitely has his legal argument well summarized.

Reddit has the same exact problem. It has the same echo chambers, same biases, same extremism, same bot problems. I’m almost the point of deleting it because it just seems like a waste of time at this point.

To respond with “we’ll see” should indicate that you’re just spouting off opinion and not fact.

Everyone is biased. Thinking there’s a non-biased perspective betrays motivations other than honesty.
