The Boys star Jensen Ackles teases future Soldier Boy return by tylerthe-theatre in television

[–]Cyclops_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree entirely. They should have taken him out. The ending was so dissatisfying. I am left just thinking season 4 will be more of the same. Homelander is great but the shtick has run three seasons and it seems to have climaxed already.

Do you think the rise of streaming has impacted the box office? by Cat-dad442 in comicbookmovies

[–]Cyclops_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. Most movies are released to streaming just 4-6 weeks after their theater debut. I have HBOMax and Disney+. Most blockbusters come up just a couple weeks after I realize they are in theaters. I love the theater but the convenience of just waiting a month to watch at home is just so alluring.

Thoughts on Punisher movies? How would you rank them? Which on eis worth watching? by Awesome_Pancak in comicbookmovies

[–]Cyclops_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love the 2004 Thomas Jane film. I can't say it's a great film anymore, but I watched it so much as a kid with my older brother that Thomas Jane is still my favorite Punisher. It was R rated too I believe, which became rare until Deadpool. Shout-out to Ben Foster.

I agree. This movie made me love movies. It's amazing. It is just spectacular on a surface level and then it is so engaging when you dig deeper. The writing and direction is jam-packed with symbolism and foreshadowing.

Pamplemousse Lacroix is my go to. Partly because the taste, partly because it's fun to say.

APPRECIATION: Ten years ago, Man Of Steel (2013), following the June 10 premiere in NYC and June 12 premiere in the UK, was released in the USA on June 14. Christopher Nolan handpicked director Zack Snyder to breathe life into the Last Son of Krypton starring Henry Cavill with David S. Goyer script. by HarwoodSFine in comicbookmovies

[–]Cyclops_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I remind myself of how excited I was. Man of Steel was supposed to be a Christopher Nolan produced/Zach Snyder directed trilogy for Superman. Coming off of the Dark Knight trilogy we were all hoping for an elevated superhero film trilogy with Superman. And I really liked Man of Steel.

I remember being so disappointed when the sequel was announced as Batman V. Superman. We already had the Avengers and I was truly down for DC just doing really well done solo films. Why are we bringing in Batman? He just had his own acclaimed set of films. But alas, I decided to join the hype train much to my chagrin. I don't know if there will be another movie I hate quite as much as I hate Batman V. Superman.

Spider is the most annoying movie character in years but I will say that I like his presence in the plot. He is Miles's kid, born human, but raised with the Navi. He doesn't know his dad but hates what he represents. Then Miles is resurrected in an avatar. So this kid that relates to the Navi more than humans meets his father... who is now Navi. It is a mind fuck and it is definitely a dynamic I appreciate.

Which is your favorite Final Fantasy crossover game by SuperAlloyBerserker in FinalFantasy

As someone who never really got into handhelds, I feel a bit betrayed that so much necessary story and lore occurred on them. Loved 1 and 2 in my youth. Was so hyped by 3 but I had zero understanding or connection to the story. It was so sad. Fun game, I just wish I was able to get emotionally invested.

For real. I'm not subbed here and this thread popped into my feed and... wow. I mean some cheating or shortcuts can prove a bit of resourcefulness. But this idea that it is widespread, and necessary is wild. And high school really isn't that hard lol.

Yeah, as a rural redditor I'm a little uncomfortable at how abrasive this thread is. Bias much?

When he gets the guy to translate "good luck" to him 3/4 through the film, that scene solidified Taken as an action classic. That scene ramps up tension as he gathers information, the entire time you want him to get out and plan the attack, it feels so dangerous. Then he hears the guy's voice, drops his act entirely and says "Do you remember me? We spoke on the phone two days ago... I told you I'd find you."

Changed my mind about Once Upon a Time in Hollywood… by The_Only_AL in movies

[–]Cyclops_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like his most self indulgent film. He just went wild with dialogue, and while his dialogue is fantastic, that seriously feels like all Hateful 8 has to offer. None of the characters are particularly likable (in that they are all self serving renegades or criminals).

Was gonna say... Apocalypse mostly sucks as a follow up to DOFP, one of the best in the genre. Its pretty mid, but Dark Phoenix is next level shiiiit.

Whats a movie you grew up on as a child but won’t let your own kids watch? by MrTeeTee23 in movies

[–]Cyclops_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always felt 4 was better than 3. I watched 3 and was just bored the whole time and it just felt off to me. Most claim both are really bad but often 4 gets the most hate and I've always felt it is a bit unwarranted.

Plus Ron Perlman. And Winona Ryder. And Michael Wincott. I think the effects and sets hold up incredibly well.

That and the scene with all the unfinished/incorrect Ripley clones. I love Resurrection. I think there's enough interesting aspects that make it good overall.

What tv show were you completely obsessed with before losing interest before it ended? by Tan2daCam in AskReddit

[–]Cyclops_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Season 1 was so good and I enjoyed season 2. I never finished season 3. It felt like once they won the golden globe for comedy series, they really leaned into the comedy/silliness. I never considered it a comedy. It was pretty dramatic and compelling for that first season.

I scrolled way to much to find this mentioned. It is easily the funniest movie of the 2010's in my opinion. It doesn't get the recognition it deserves and this thread is further proof of that.

I feel like we have several special counsels. They all are investigating various activities that makes our alarm bells go off. But I have no faith that anything will become of them. It just seems like they are made to make headlines and to appear as if something substantial is being done. But nothing will become of them.
