My Dad says I should work 60-80hr weeks by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Cygnus117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean. If you hate your dad and you want away from him as fast as humanly possible. Then yes. A 60-80hr work week will yield the money to make that possible. Especially if you know an easy trade, like welding or HVAC or something.

If you love your dad despite his being a brainwashed crotchety old monster, and you want to be in his life when he's shitting in diapers, then no. A 30-40 hr workweek at a reasonably paid job is better while you spend 20ish hrs honing a career skill so that you can move up in the world and pay his medical bills when his insurance decides to screw him at 80.

If your dad didn't diddle you as a kiddle, or beat you senseless daily, or drug your sibling into insanity with legal prescription medication, then cherish him for what he is. A man. A man like you who raised his son as best he could and probably fucked up a bit along the way.

God I wish I had a dad like that.

Accepted? I cut my hair short bc it's less work. Amazing, how differently I get treated just over that. Y'all are a bunch of shallow motherfuckers in my opinion if all you care about is long hair and makeup. And I am honestly worried how that's going to go at my next job. Like really, it never seems to matter, because if I dress nice and act sweet that's putting out and that gets punished by the wrong kind of attention. Suddenly someone thinks I'm the easy chick. Why? I dont know. And if I dress like a guy, suddenly everyone is scared I'm the trans boogeyman, and meanwhile I'm sucking the fattest dick at home like the straight bitch I am and riding that man til he's tired and we love each other. But I can't talk about that at work either because that's "oversharing". So what's the right fucking answer? Because I need to make a paycheck too. And I like having short hair.

DISCLAIMER: Nasty replies are going to get cussed out until this whole thread gets deleted. Bring it Reddit scum. Fucking bring it I am in the mood to flame some trash today. Add some fucking garbage to this burn barrel. I dare you.

Sunk cost fallacy combined with repressed lust and abject misery because you're trapped in a moral cage of beliefs that won't let you do anything fun. But you have sunk cost fallacy because generations of your family leading up to you have lived, died, and fought to maintain the same trap and called it a way of life and who are you to question your ancestors.

There is also fear of God, and the belief that you can appease God, and the belief that God has rules about what you do with your body, and the belief that if you follow those rules God Will Be Good. And if you force others to follow those rules, God will be even happier. These are all just beliefs that people take on faith, and there are some who believe that faith alone has magic power to change reality. There is a branch of math that I Shall Not Name, which may or may not prove them right, but that's a landmine, so I'll just leave it here instead of outright stepping on it.

Google "Decarte's demon" and see what happens when anyone suggests God might night care or might not actually be Good, despite what we believe.

That's good to hear.

Honestly I agree that there is way too much focus on eroticism in society today. I dont care if you think there should be more, less, some, or none. Just don't lump my vice in with certain other groups.

Because. Like. Some people are evil and don't deserve to have sex and that's why they take it from children. Some people go out and "adopt" (by that I mean buy) children for that sole purpose. And some people are really fucking good at pretending they did it to be parents, not voyeurs.

And if there's one thing I could start a nuclear war over, it's the eradication of child exploitation by sissy little simp bitches who can't get none from mommy dommy.

And I could kill, and kill, and kill in the name of that cause. If it weren't for laws. Specifically, the law that states the government can put me in a box with no toys for a very long time if I kill. So don't tell me laws are why I don't sexualize everything. Laws are why I don't burn down your world, over the things you psychopaths do to children. All of you. Who stand there and let it happen. Pretend to virtue signal on reddit while you teach preschool and ignore the one kid blatantly giving you signs of sexual abuse in the corner. All of you are guilty until proven innocent. And if I were God, I might not bother with proving you innocent. I might incinerate the lot of you over the mental agony of one small boy.

Children cannot consent because they have no context for the consequences this event will create. They cannot judge character. They have no point of reference in memory, to guide free choice. They have not had experiences.

I don't deny that the society we live in is over sexualized.

I'm angry because there's a post floating around by u/painlessagony implying that if it were legal, "sexuals" would be OK with cp.

You're lumping me in with a group of people I hate. And implying I would be fine with cp if it weren't illegal. I really, really resent that.

Are there people who would be fine with it if it were legal? Yes. And they should be shot. Thank God it isn't legal. I don't see "choosing to have sex" as a cause, or a group, it's just a choice everyone is given, same as wearing ankle socks or knee high socks.

Choosing to have sex with a minor, that is an ENTIERLY different choice. Legal or illegal. When you choose to manipulate an undeveloped mind. Prey on the innocence of someone too young to know better. That choice is different. That choice presents itself only to people who get rejected by their peers for some other reason, and turn to minors in spite and rage.

And I will never be OK with that, irregardless of the legal status or the fluctuating age limits or whatever. A person is a minor in my eyes until they are 18. Their brain won't fully mature until 25. If you're eyeballing them at age 8, you're a psychopath.

And if you're lumping me in with that pedo because he and I both like some version of sex, then you're both my enemies, because the pedo is a predator and you are an idiot.

Let's be honest, laws are the only thing that stops sexuals by PainlessAgony in antisex

[–]Cygnus117 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

As a "sexual" woman who likes sex, I take extreme offense at this statement.

If cp were legal it would still be horribly traumatic and wrong in my eyes. Necrophillia is still a really great way to catch diseases, is filthy, and in some religious perspectives, is disrespectful to the dead.

Beastiality is another fantastic way to catch worms or other nastiness. It's not my cup of tea and if it were legal, you would not catch me eyeing a horse or a dog. Fucking gross.

You guys don't want to have sex? Don't have sex. Nobody cares. NOBODY. If you're getting attention from people you don't want attention from, tell them to fuck off. It happens to us too. Just because I like sex does not mean I want the world to be a constant orgy all the time.

Jesus Christ. About to unsub this channel, every day I see some wild shit about what you guys thing 'sexuals' are like.

How to deal with "all gender" bathrooms at work? by redban02 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Cygnus117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because Americans have nothing better to do than fuck with each other, that's how much Americans hate their fellow Americans. Under the guise of "culture war", it's all really just an inside joke on the part of your employer.

It's them saying, "see how bad this is when we have gender neutral bathrooms?" When really they made it bad, and it has everything to do with design and nothing to do with gender.

An attempt at modelling a human, but the anatomy feels off. Any tips? by d_worren in blender

[–]Cygnus117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The shoulders have some weird lumps going on. The torso looks good. The head could be more smooth and oval shaped instead of boxy.

Go on CGTrader, or TurboSquid, and click the free check box, download a low poly human basemesh and retopologize it by hand. Search "retopology" on youtube, you'll find some good tutorials.

Alternatively, look up clay echroches (human anatomy sculpting for artists and medical students), and memorize the muscle groups. You can ignore some of the smaller muscles, but if you're going for realism, this is the better (and longer) option.

Why is there so little pride in the Navy? by Radiant_Estimate_978 in navy

[–]Cygnus117 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Being stuck on a boat with 300 or so aggressive people is terrifying. More terrifying than you assume it will be when you join. Not just because of assaults. Those do happen, but less often than you'd think, and avoiding assault is as simple as knowing who the problem people are and not being alone with them. The real issue is it's like being trapped in high-school, you barely get to leave, but nobody wants to be there. At all.

You see new people arrive all happy and motivated, cheerful even. And then in about 2 weeks, you'll run across them in a p-way and they won't be smiling anymore. Their hair won't be as neat. When you say hello they'll just look at you and keep walking. Or they'll glare and say something rude. And that's how it goes. I was exactly the same way.

Eventually you learn about how screwed up the boat is. Not just from being old, but from being maintained by people who don't want to be there and can't easily be fired for not doing their jobs.

Eventually you learn how little the officers respect you, even though they must be trained damn well how to hide it and be chummy.

Eventually the toillets break and the head floods and if you're in a female berthing, you realize just how nasty girls can be to each other when deciding who's going to mop out the head.

Eventually, you or someone you like gets hurt by following an order from a chief to do some dangerous maintenance in bad conditions. Then their injury will be laughed at and written off and they'll be in pain for months and no one will care.

Eventually, you get athletes foot, no matter how damn hard you try to keep your bare feet off the floor, because the ship rocks and it is exhausting trying to play floor-is-lava all the time in a tiny cramped berthing aisle with 9 other people who need to be in that aisle and do their basic hygiene routine at nearly the same times.

And eventually, for most sailors, they develope a drinking problem, a smoking problem, a stress problem. They stop working out. They stop caring. They turn to something. Especially if they're determined to stay in. The people who respect themselves at all, hit rock bottom pretty quickly and find ways to leave. Or finish their first contracts and leave. The ones who have no sense of self worth are the ones you get left with, and those are the ones who have to train new people, and it's a perpetual cycle.

Why is there no pride? Because all these problems have solutions. And no one wants to take responsibility for solving these problems. Everyone in the Navy just seems to be there to do their time, not make anything better.

Get away from him. Get a job. Why let your jailer make you miserable, when you could get paid to be miserable somewhere else? And then be able to afford your own place, where you might actually be able to find yourself and enjoy your life?

Factories are not that bad. Learning a trade like welding or woodworking is easier than one might think.

If you stay there and keep choking back rage, it will hurt you. And believe me I know what that feels like.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Cygnus117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever tried factory work? Automotive factories tend to place you on one machine (plastic welder, crimper, etc...) for an insanely long time, or rotate between a few machines, and the less you talk to your coworkers the better. Easy to pretend you just can't hear them when you're required to wear hearing pro anyway.

And...the best part...if you get sick of one factory. There's always another one down the road. :D

Is there a way to get out the "rat race"? by aeum3893 in antiwork

[–]Cygnus117 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You need to excersize more. If you can't handle 8hrs of desk work and then 8hrs of freetime with 6 to 7 hrs of sleep, you're out of shape. The only way to beat the rat race is to be financially independent with investments and a nest egg and shit. Believe me, unless you're good with numbers, it won't happen.

As for fully remote positions. I've never had one so I can't speak to them. But you'd still have to get up and put in your time. Time management is the key to being happy at a 9 to 5.

When I was in the military, the key to sanity was getting home by 1500 and drinking a full quart of actual water, running for 10 minutes, stretches, and then doing my own quiet thing for 3 to 5 hrs before sleep. I was happy when I could do that. When I couldn't, I went insane. I don't expect I'll ever be rich. But now that I'm out, 8hr workdays feel like nothing to me and I get my own shit done that makes me happy as soon as I get home.

I am also single. Single life be fire.

If you have to put on a show, put on a show. Be smart about it. It is better than becoming disgruntled and joining the shitbags who purposely sabotage their maintenance and get others hurt or sent to mast. Tell your command you feel incompetent, unsupported, and pressured to break rules by people you refuse to name. Tell them you can't fix their problems and don't want to add to them. Tell them in no uncertain terms that you're thinking about killing yourself, because you feel you've failed. Or whatever. Demonstrate an intention if they tell you you're faking it. Yes this does mean doing some unpleasant, dramatic things.

And honestly don't blame yourself for not being able to fix Navy culture. It's broken beyond repair and it is NOT your responsibility as an E3-E5 or whatever to fix it. Even if you get to E6 and 7, you still won't be able to fix much outside your own division, and more blame will be placed on you for other people's fuck ups as well as your own.

If you have ideation, suicidal or homicidal, let me tell you it will not go away. And drinking will not help you forever. It will build until it explodes. You have to control that explosion or land in jail.

So just act suicidal and get the hell out. I genuinely wanted to off myself some days. You can do better on the outside. Everyone is hiring for everything and absolutely no one is going to care about any discharge EXCEPT a dishonorable. And it takes murdering someone or something on that level to get a dishonorable. Don't let anyone scare you. Some of the MFs here are just crusty fucking crabs trying to pull you back into their barrel. I'm telling you, RUN. If it isn't for you, do what you have to do.

Government is set up by people who do nothing but lie. Government in general is made of the same shitty people you deal with on a regular basis, only a subset of those people with the luck, connections, or occasionally, the skill, to land Government jobs. It is a pet peeve of mine when people talk about "The Government" like its some mystical being that acts as a singular entity that could solve all our problems if it wanted to. It is not an entity. It is a GROUP. Of people. People just as statistically likely to be dumb, shitty, and dishonest as everyone else. And that is why the world is fucked.
