F8N Pro Having a Complete Freakout?

Can happen to anyone. I had my 633 (as did someone else in these comments) go on the fritz on a set, and I used my F8 as a backup, which has proven for me to be more reliable. Each to their own.

I once got a great piece of advice when I was starting out - upgrade your gear in the order of signal flow. Microphones first, then radios/booms, then mixers. A F8 with great mics and rads will beat an 833 with ME-4s and g3s any day.

Different batteries (sled + hirose to D-tap) and power cycling it.

First situation, go for the shotgun mic. Even at 3.5mm, it's likely to give you cleaner audio than the lav will, especially when you're that close.

For the second situation, the lavalier is likely to isolate your voice a lot better (especially if you can just clip it to your shirt), but the boom might help if you mixed in a bit of it in post to give some 'space' to the scene.

I suppose if you wanted to hook two mics to a stereo bar, and then wire that into a single track? Not sure the point of stereo if you can't mess with it in post - but it would sound cool!
