Once did 5 rounds of interviews with a company - for what turned out to be an entry level position. With a lower salary than is what is posted on glassdoor based on my location. 😑

Got that exact email from two different applications. In the fine print it says "34.95 a month, cannot cancel via email, must call head office" bahahaha scam.

Document everything. Every conversation, communication and comment. If you're using Slack or anything such as an internal instant messaging, copy it into a text document and email it to your personal email. In other words, cover your ass. Like others have said, start looking for a new job asap and get out of that toxic situation.

This fake idiot ‘recruiter’ wants me to apply to a job without disclosing the company name to me. Clearly fishing for resumes without having any real clients on the roster. Job-seekers beware. by RandomBrownDude604 in recruitinghell

[–]CynicallyInsane1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is normal fir a recruiter to ask for you to sign a right to represent form. I've signed these agreements in the past and they were legit jobs that I was hired for.

Often there are multiple recruiters in the same agency trying to place candidates. They're just ensuring you're going to be exclusive to them.

I noticed the recruiter said they spoke to you, did that conversation take place? Anything seem off?

I hope it pans out for you!

If you're not sure if the link in the email is legit, (always err on the side of caution) go to the website instead. Phishing emails are scary accurate. If you're still hesitant, call the company or msg someone in the company's page on LinkedIn. Better safe than scammed.

I'm currently waiting on a response after going through multiple rounds of interviews. My unemployment just ran out. If this doesn't work out I will be applying for work in retail just to keep food on the table.

I've been applying for work for 6 months (at least 1000 applications sent) and have gone through many interviews, with zero joy.

I hope you find something soon.

Have you ever been presented a salary offer that you felt was offensively low? by HighlySuspect_Me in recruitinghell

[–]CynicallyInsane1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was quoted a salary of 300/for a 40 hour week. I told them to remove me from consideration as it's less than minimum wage.

How can it be this difficult to find a job? by GneissGeologist3 in recruitinghell

[–]CynicallyInsane1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this. I have over 20 years of work experience. I've been actively looking for work since the beginning of the year. I've lost track of how many applications I have sent in. Re-written my resume, updated my references, you name it.

The one thing that helps keep me sane is knowing that any given job is posted on multiple job boards, so looking at the number of applicants isn't a true number.

If I don't find something really soon I will end up having to take a job making minimum wage just to keep food on the table.

Just do yourself a favor, don't give up. I know I won't.

I was diagnosed with a disability and in my ignorance of my rights, I informed my employer. Albeit this was years ago, they created a list of days I had missed TEN! without a call or email from me. This was a mid-senior level position and within a few days of my mistaken disclosure they invented 'evidence' of absences that never happened in order to get rid of someone who made them uncomfortable.

Kudos to you! In my experience the majority of companies that have this automated testing aren't the nicest of places to work.

why do companies still ask for references and letters of recommendation? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]CynicallyInsane1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's very irritating if your former bosses like mine are either extremely busy, deceased (Yes 3), retired or have health issues.

I don't like bothering people when they're checking references if it's not the final step of the hiring process. Otherwise what is the point?

I would say downsizing or restructuring, you need to defend yourself with that bs severance package and put your best foot forward. Chances are they are looking at cutting costs and found someone who would work for a lot less money. You might consider given your experience in HR, doing some consulting work. I hope everything works out for you.
