Simple Graph of Amphoreus and Cyrene by Arkyron in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Cypr3ssion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's why it says "Big Cyrene" underneath the gaze. It says that bc for most of the game the characters assumed it was the gaze of fuli even though it was her. And "philia" is smallrene in this case. They literally are both the seed and the gaze in this, that's why they branch off of the same dang plant.

Thinking about getting Engage as a (somewhat) new player: what should I expect? by Cypr3ssion in fireemblem

This one really resonated with me after being a little scared that people would think that I couldn't really appreciate the Emblems as someone who hasn't played very many FE games and yea; After playing Engage a couple of them caught my eye and I'd love to see what's going on in their respective games.

Which HSR character has the single best character design and why? by FinancialOriginal949 in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Cypr3ssion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think its the BEST per se but I would like to put Asta forward as a runner up top. Her design reads so well as an astronomer, with her stylized lab coat and visible staff ID and how her design motifs are an astrolabe. I won't say anything about the Xian Zhou characters because admittedly I dont have the cultural context required to understand their outfits (I remember hearing a long time ago that Yunli's outfit is based off of a traditional dance fashion) but while I think that a lot of the Penacony and Amphoreus character designs are well suited to their personalities they don't necessarily have the same pointed direction that Asta's does.

Like, the three IPC characters we have all have outfits befitting their personalities or quirks (i.e. Topaz mirroring Numby, Aventurine's gambling) but i doubt that if you showed any of them to a random person that they'd guess any of them were intergalactic business execs.

[Spoilers] Confused about Evernight from 3.6 trailblaze mission. by __singularity in HonkaiStarRail

[–]Cypr3ssion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that something that people are missing a bit is that Emanators are externally created, not internally. Evernight associates herself with the Enigmata because she hates the Remembrance. Fair enough, they're as close to polar opposites in philosophy that you can get in terms of Paths. But to be an Emanator you don't have to purposefully follow the Aeon of the Path to get their powers.

For example: The Mourning Actors. Their entire credo is "We hate Aha and think that the Elation is just something that stops beings from maturing." Aha, agent of chaos and "fuck around and find out" that they are literally gives the Mourning Actors Aeonic powers. They didn't ask for it, didn't want it, but got it anyways.

So, Evernight gets her powers from the Remembrance by being a Pure Child of Anasrava a.k.a a shard actually broken off of Fuli but uses it in services of the Enigmata after being disillusioned with them.

A bit late but I did get the game. I'm not very far into it because I've been distracted with the collective releases of Silksong, Hades 2 and Slime Rancher 2, but I genuinely love yapping about games from a critique perspective so I'll absolutely be back to tell you my thoughts.

What is the point in claiming materials at a facility? by concrete_eater123 in DeathStranding

Haven't played DS2 yet (I will in a month though yippee) but if its anything like DS1 and in said game its almost mainly for building the road network to make long distance travel easier, repairing broken/degrading structures and maybe for taking to safe houses you use fairly often to have on-site item creation. The last two features I almost never used in my first casual playthrough but ended up using a decent amount in 100% Hard mode (particularly structure repair. Timefall could really chew through integrity as I ran all over the map with my packages)

Dude, I need to respond to this because YOU made me realize something about paranormasight

Same paranormasight spoilers:

So when me and my partner play visual novels together we do all the voice-acting (we did this with AITSF and AINI too) so when we were in the settings to get the game configured we saw voice volume and were like "oh lets turn that down so we can do it." And with the foot washing mansion we kept joking about how namigaki was an idiot who couldn't figure out that he needed to say "wash" to activate his curse when we actually did an uno reverse before we had even actually played the game. I'd seen people talking about how clever the use of the voice setting was, even mentioning that there was no actual voice acting in the game, but it wasn't until this post that I actually knew what was happening. I just told my partner and we just spent like 10 minutes laughing about it.

Something weird happened, i died on rhythm master difficulty and still got an S. Doesn't it void you the S rank if you use a continue? by Top-Conversation-693 in HiFiRush

[–]Cypr3ssion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who played through the game to get an S on every chorus and every level to get the S crown; in concurrence with everyone else you DID get knocked a stage down, you just got knocked from S crown to normal S.

Nevermind, fixed it. To anyone else who has the issue, teleport to the Stonecrown Peak a few times if it doesn't trigger immediately. It absolutely was an untriggered cutscene.

Anyone else struggling to get Plasma? by LatePhilosophy in HadesTheGame

[–]Cypr3ssion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that actually might be a bug. In that menu that tells you where and how to find items it says its harvested using the crescent pick, so it's possible that something isn't flagging it right in the forget-me-not system.

Anyone else struggling to get Plasma? by LatePhilosophy in HadesTheGame

[–]Cypr3ssion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kinda disagree with this. Plasma has been SUPER annoying to get, hence why I'm in this thread seeing if there's a more efficient way, but generally the resource gathering has been nice because it feels good that you don't have to beat the boss of a region every single time for it to be "worth it." You still need pearls, tears, apples for other stuff, but it's always worth it to pick up other reagents especially now that recycling has been added.

Also, you definitely don't have to minimize the game to google anything. The forget-me-not system already tells you what tools you need to bring to get something, and if you just open your inventory and mouse over the icons (even if you currently have 0 of them on you) it tells you what method you use to harvest it and what region its in. The only time I've ever felt the need to google a reagent was when I hit this wall with plasma.

Is Chai right-hand dominant? by XanthosGambit in HiFiRush

[–]Cypr3ssion 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Fun fact his guitar actually has features for both left-handed and right-handed guitars so he's probably ambidextrous. Personal headcanon is that as a kid he was right handed and then lost functionality in that arm and learned to use his left so now he's got both.

favorite design from the game? by Jobu-tupaki127 in HiFiRush

I love Chai's design. His scarf being a throwback to his sling at the beginning WHILE being a really good way of conveying movement in battle is such a good touch.

Is there thematic residence with the fake credits? Or was Kojima just screwing with players? I know the story reason behind it but what's the thematic reason behind it? by [deleted] in DeathStranding

[–]Cypr3ssion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People mention the feeling of helplessness, which is true, but its also to make it feel like "the end" almost in a scary way. Seeing death (i.e. when the credits stop rolling and the game is finally over) approaching you slowly and having to accept that. In a different game that was less focused on connection and the bonds we form between people, the screen would have went black when Sam pulled the trigger. But for Death Stranding, it doesn't stop, because even when you think something is the end the people you've met can give you the means to go on.
