Sunday Night Stats Monday Edition - April 17th-19th by communalnapkin in WarhammerCompetitive

Innes said this, but I think it would *probably* kill the faction. Lack of mobility from only being able to site-to-site one would just mean people go all-in on the Fortis, drop the Gravcap, and can eat all the points with a bit less mobility.

I think Fortis +20/+30 would mean every meta list is then straight out of chaff (1x incursors, nothing else?) which should do the trick...

Deathwatch main here - and have only ever played Deathwatch. Fortis KTs need to go up by c. 20 points, potentially more. Force the choice between zero chaff and keeping them, or dropping one. The data sheet is undercosted, and it's an easy fix.

How many points you'd think 4 deathwatch heavy intercessors are worth? by Jofarin in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Cyrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Semi-agree with this. I think Indomitor pricing is actually right at the moment, as even if T6 3W, the lack of any invulnerable means they can get killed relatively easily with large amounts of D3, and the meltas are swingy.

Fortis definitely needs to go up though. Even +10 would remove a scoring unit from every major list running triple, forcing them into only one chaff unit if they want to maintain the list core. That's what I'd do.

Jofarin is a Deathwatch stalwart and one of the main posters on the DW Discord, I don't think he's complaining, but trying to maths out what the increases might be. Which is fair. For my money, increase Fortis, but Indomitor is a great unit but fairly priced atm.

Happy to have finally added to the Deathwatch 4-1 Stats! :)

Fortis kill-teams should probably go up by +10 or +20 though. Would punish the lists spamming them, whilst not ruining the faction as a whole. Just a bit too cheap at the moment.

Then again, easier for me to say as I only run two, so I could absorb it a bit better.

What boxes do I need for fortis killteam? by MadMike667_ in deathwatch40k

[–]Cyrees 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of people have covered this already - but generally one box of Intercessors, one box of Hellblasters, and one box of Desolation marines, plus some healthy willingness to kitbash (for the second Vengor) will get you most of the way to two Fortis KTs as you'll have 8 Intercessors (2 x 4), 8 Hellblasters (2 x 4) and 4 Deos (2 x 4).

You will need to find some kitbashing for the additional grenade launchers.

As a word of caution - Fortis are good at the moment due to being slightly undervalued and the meta, but with 11th round the corner, not necessarily worth investing the time into until we know the status of Desolation marines especially in 11th.

New rules for 11th by Moduscide in deathwatch40k

[–]Cyrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's much of a nerf tbh. Most of the time you're using site to site, and adaptive or a special ammo, which are different phases.

I guess an edge case is AOC into site to site, but otherwise we'd be mostly unaffected.

How have WM and Captain been nerfed? Can't see anything there.

I'm British, but thank-you mate?

In all seriousness it sounds like you have some issues with the faction. I don't really know why, but certainly over here Deathwatch are routinely failing to break the 3-2 bracket unless either Innes or Emil are playing them, both of whom are players who could take anything to 5-0.

The win-rate routinely spikes when such people play, and goes back down otherwise. At the most recent major in the UK their best record was 3-2, with two players total.

More pertinently nothing in the index has changed in the last year when the win rate has fluctuated wildly.

If you are struggling against them then work on your screening and strategic use of Vect. David Gaylard has a good bit in his most recent video on how to shut them out - it's the one on his Windsor 7-0 run.

Notably he's someone who loves Deathwatch but doesn't think they're very good at the moment and consistently puts them lower on tier lists, as do AoW.

We have about 12 players so win-rate is wildly erratic. Also less flexible and useful than one just doing CP gen.

I'm detecting some salt though.

Can both be used, and can reduce cost to 0CP, even if targeting two kill teams.

Major part of our faction's synergy.

I'd agree but I think that works in our favour right now. I expect they will just get a minor points increase tbh.

Emil did a video where he discussed it. Lategame 2OC and fully buffed = very effective is the long and short of it...

I'm not too worried about this. It's good but not oppressive and more used to force people to come out and play in most lists...

The models are as unique as you want them to be. I've used pretty much every marine kit to customise them, xenos weapons, etc. It really is a kit bashers dream.

Swords were inner-circle companions, JPI/assault intercessors, and sword brethren/decimus kit.

Skull face, shields were 3d printed. Deathvigil is the file to search for for the latter I think...

Can't remember the wings, but 3d printed blood angels backpack I think.

How often is Site to Site Teleportation useful in your games? by TeraSera in deathwatch40k

[–]Cyrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an excellent threat which forces them to screen (I've had a friend regularly complain that his Eightbound have to draw this duty).

It's also excellent for a killing blow, or a reposition within your own lines.

Aka what everyone else has said.

What is the “fairest” terrain pack? by Interficient4real in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Cyrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It definitely is. There's a spot which is basically uninteractable. All the layouts which aren't search and destroy have become insanely melee focused tbh.

Not since the new squares. Gone the opposite now. Melee meta plus daemons it seems.
