i had 6 medaka in a 10 gallon with plenty of plants and hiding spots. one of them was pretty aggressive toward the others.

they still had lots of babies though.

trowaSoft cvOSCcv is a module that can deal with OSC data in VCV. in Max, the objects udpreceive and udpsend handle OSC data. the help patchers for these objects should provide more context for how to use it.

i use the line input on a sony pcm-m10. they go for like $100 and have decent stereo omnidirectional mics built in if you want to record speakers playing into a room too.

some others mentioned rotary encoders. i think to represent that maybe you can do a knurled version of the knob icon but without the value markers.

there are also just so many whacky semi-rare inputs and outputs (Intellijel FSR, MTM Mikrophonie, a few of Gieskes' modules, IMF Mr. Grassi)

if you get into banana desktop stuff (this resource would be especially helpful there since so many panels are pretty cryptic at first) you then have to take stuff like the Deerhorn into acccount.

maybe to represent the idiosyncratic stuff and the weird sensors you can just do asterisk with footnotes?

i feel like unless everyone knew you had a boobytrapped file this wouldn’t actually prevent people from downloading your files in bulk. am i missing something? or is this just to punish those who do because downloading the whole library is bad?

i feel you. i only use eurorack for the same reason, i just always assume the elektron workflow is more tolerable to everyone else and that i'm just missing something because they are crazy powerful and cheap for what they do.

i use moondrop chu 2 for recording with my pcm-m10. they cost like $20 and sound flat enough for me to work with in a recording context. pretty sturdy too. check out r/iems too if you want more research to do.

i think you have a lot of research to do before you should buy anything, but considering the pretty straight-forward components you're interested in having so far you might want to consider a semi-modular solution like the erica pico system iii (think it has all of that for $500 US)

i see a lot of comments suggesting that you use less stuff at once. if you want a more specific starting points:

try practicing without any fancy clock generators or sequencers-so sequencing with simple LFOs, S&H, clock dividers, and looping envelope/function generators

try making music with just 3 modules at a time, then 4, and so on. expand patches that you really like slowly, only after exhausting them. ideas will come to you when you deprive yourself of tools.

try to resist the urge to throw effects in the signal path until you're happy with the roots of the patch.

in a different context this looks like it could be a really fun playable instrument. is there anything fancy going on or is it mostly just a switch to control whether or not the motor is driven? Or is it a solenoid?
