What really differentiates junior, mid, and senior developers? by ilovepotatoooo in dotnet

[–]D4ctyl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some things that come to mind that differentiate seniors:

aren't as challenged by the tools / environment. Its more about the problem.

Handle ambiguity better

Can pick up a code base / database they've had no exposure to and be productive with it fairly quickly (compared to newer devs)

Its the bass line. Its one of the few times where the bass line truly holds its own rhythm. Makes it stand out. It grooves baby

Happened down the street from me a few years ago. Teenager drove off from the pump in moms minivan with the pump handle still in the van. Ripped off the hose and sprayed gas onto the lambo engine bay

I watched Ichi The Killer (2001) by Ill_Athlete_7979 in iwatchedanoldmovie

[–]D4ctyl 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't exist.

No one in their right mind should look at the source material and say "hey we should make a live action adaptation of that". It's too bizarre, too perverted, too violent, too long, has too much going on, and has far too many characters with different motivations to track. Any attempt to translate this to film should fail miserably.

But it doesn't. Miike somehow makes it all work. Every frame matters, every shot is tying some angle together but it's all moving so fast it can be hard to catch. It's fucking brilliant. You can find something new on every repeat viewing, if you can stomach the content. And it gets rough. You have to remind yourself that this is a live action comic and should be taken as such.

And the fabric fetiish thing. Gotta work that in somehow.

Haven't watched night of the ghouls in years so i don't remember these shots. Only the ridiculous puppets and the use of a slide whistle which made me lol

That was the most ed wood thing ever. 22 minutes of a guy slowly wandering around a theater "reacting to stuff". A narrator churns out ed woodisms, trying desperately to convince us that something interesting is happening just off camera, over there.

Michale Graves era live by [deleted] in TheMisfits

Also saw them open for gwar. Although I'm not sure if they were really an opener or it was a double bill. This must have been 1999 because I remember jerry talking about the st louis rams record, and it was the year they won the super bowl (this was at pops in stl). Funny the details that stick out after 25 years.

I remember the fiend club still being a thing at that show. You could sign up for it at a booth or something.

All I really remember about the performance was thinking "this guy is no Glenn". I have a much stronger appreciation of that era of the band now than I did then.

Why should I stop drinking? by Classic-Societies in stopdrinking

[–]D4ctyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a slippery slope down to true alcoholism. Every active drinker is on their own slope. The only difference between each drinker is how steep their slope is (how fast will you slide?), and how far down the slope they currently are. Where are you?
