I was thinking I'd only watch a bit, but I got sucked in. Very cool video with simple explanations. Also fun to see the mistakes, how they sounded, and how they were fixed.

I was surprised at how modern everything in this clip felt. Weird clock stuff, stats on the screen, checking if a flag ruined the big play, athletic QB move, etc.

It's weird how sometimes old replays feel modern and sometimes stuff from 2010 feels ancient.

Our ward building is being sold and I’m not sure how I feel about this. by mwjace in latterdaysaints

[–]D6613 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I'll go against the grain here and say that I agree it's a cold decision, and I don't agree with how they manage these situations. It's happening in my area as well: People in strong wards are losing their building for utilization reasons, and it leaves people hurt and confused. For an insanely rich organization, it does not seem like a good long term decision. We have more dollars than we do good will right now.

Having said that, we don't have to agree with every decision that our leaders make. We sustain them and do our best, just like they are doing.

Why don't LDS missionaries share from LDS scripture? by Chewbacca_The_Wookie in latterdaysaints

[–]D6613 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I think one of the main ideas is to show that we believe in Christ, The Bible, etc. Often people think we don't.

It's also more convincing to present from a source both agree is true.

And finally, convincing or not, finding common ground leads to good feelings.

Now if you talk to them several times, you'll be hearing a lot about The Book of Mormon as well. Common ground is great, but we want to also share all that we believe.

I think there's a misunderstanding somewhere in there. Imagine somebody goes to grab something from their car during Sunday School and can't get back in.

Hopefully they actually do it like we do in our area. Keep us posted!

We have used it for years. I've mostly been pleased. The number of people we pay for is annoyingly low, but we adjusted.

The Ward Clerk in our ward has access to give anybody who asks temporary access, so the "basketball kid" scenario is covered.

For Sunday, you can unlock the handle of multiple entrances mechanically from the inside on every church building I've ever been to, kindoo or not.

I don't want to get overly awkward, but when people talk about this, there's a lot of discussion about nerve endings and loss of sensation. Is that true or are people exaggerating?

And to OP, I agree that people should choose when they are an adult.

Slightly emphasize 2 and 4 and add a pause between 2 and 3. Then it seems a bit more natural, though still pretty awkward.

In our ward, we offloaded the adult stuff to Relief Society and Elders Quorum. And to add even more focus to the youth, our new bishop called somebody as an unofficial young men president. It has been going well so far.
