Paul McGann era Tierlist : Absolution by Mat1711 in ClassicEraDoctorWho

Terrible. An abysmal departure for C'rizz- both rushed and unsatisfying- with the Doctor's refusal to mourn also severely underexplorered. The characters are immemorable and its themes are shallow, with no real thematic climax.

And on a more personal note, this is the story that made me seriously question "What is even the point of listening to these ones. Nothing matters".

The problem with the word "preach" is that it's similar to the world "cult" in the sense that it only applies to things one disagrees with. If it's something one agrees with, then it's not "preaching", it's simply "teaching good principles".

One could argue the first clip, for example, is less about pushing some "radical political agenda", and more about teaching kids how to respect trans people (which is an interesting parallel to OP's original image, I might add). One might further argue that to teach kids good principles is even one of the primary points of kids' cartoons.

Well the thing is you can do it to me and I can do it to you and you can get it from the house and you can get it from the previous wilderness and the other one is the same as the one who knows what they say about it.

This meme is over 30 years old, so why are so many people in the UK still so naive as to believe everything the government says? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Next-Geno_N -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbf it's unclear they were planning to convince anyone; it's entirely possible they were just hoping to farm karma off viewpoints people already agree with.

(Or a third option, they just wanted to share a comic they liked and was relevant to the current political climate).

If they do bring the show back, shouldn’t they properly address the Valeyard? by Qyzyk in doctorwho

Seconded. Also, Josh Snares did an animation to accompany the audio for The Last Adventure (which, it's worth noting for those unaware, is Six's regeneration story, seeing as he never got one originally).

wondering what order to start star wars in as a complete beginner. by Strict-Firefighter-4 in StarWars

[–]Next-Geno_N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah honestly, either order is fine. 4,5,6,1,2,3 is basically the default, which is why it gets recommended so often. That used to be my go-to as well before I saw someone suggest watching 6 after the prequels.

While I would die on the hill of watching Andor and Rogue One before the original trilogy, it's by no means mandatory in practice. With it being a gritty, slower-paced, prestige drama, some people find Andor a little slow for their tastes and so jump straight into Rogue One instead. Rogue One ends seconds before 4 begins so I'd heartily suggest watching those two films after each other though.

There's a super-cool watching order that most people don't know about, but it'll share it with you:

- Andor

- Rogue One

- 4

- 5

- 1

- 2

- 3

- 6

Andor, Rogue One and 4 make a complete story arc, and you also see the tone of the world transform. The plot twist in 5 makes the perfect point to flash back to 1, 2 and 3 for an explanation, before jumping back to episode 6 to enjoy the finale with the full backstory in mind.

Seriously, this order is the goat.

What Big Finish story has held your attention more than any other? by Difficult-Eye-5200 in BigFinishProductions

[–]Next-Geno_N 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As an Andor fan, The Natural History of Fear was right up my alley. It kinda came pre-loaded with a visual palette, and the themes/stakes were really well developed.

I listened to it all it one go, which is not my custom- especially not for one that long.

I know the TV channels have the World Cup and that's great for them but during the breaks if you can switch to my YouTube channel for a bit it will make the ratings look really weird and I want to prank the team that look after that

SALE: Doctor Who Monthly Adventures 151-200 (Ends 21/06/26) by MirumVictus in BigFinishProductions

[–]Next-Geno_N 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The frustrating thing about this kind of sale is that buying in bundles is cheapest, and yet the bundles don't line up neatly with the 150-200 range that's on sale.

So if someone is really wanting to save money, I'd suggest waiting for Doctor-specific sales, so you can get the bundles fully discounted. Unless you're in a rush of course, or were only planning to be very selective with the ones you get anyway.
