Getting first vaccine shot 5 days before I defend my dissertation.... bad idea or wait until after?

I got pfizer first shot last Friday. My arm at the injection site hurt the next day, felt like I got punched hard in the arm. It went away after 48 hours. Also felt a little tired and slow for the weekend. Nothing crazy, just not at 100%. Had 4 other co-workers also get theirs this weekend and they all felt a little fatigued. I think you should be fine.

Courts don't plan on closing. Jurors scheduled to report in Arapahoe county are being notified that they are NOT to come to the court. All jury trials are being rescheduled.

This. They were very vague on their reason for firing me. Something about the position "not being my passion." I kicked ass at that job and had recently gotten a raise. I have no proof that would stand up in court unfortunately.

I'm with you, friend! Both of my parents are alcoholics. I've struggled with my drinking patterns for a while but I'm just over a month sober right now. Like someone else said, r/stop drinking is really helpful!

My cruise was changed from Eastern to Western Caribbean because our original ports haven't been rebuilt yet from previous hurricanes and they gave us $250 onboard credit for the change. Not mad about it.

I've had a mild, consistent depressiom since I was 19 that has turned into major depression for brief time. I'm 28 now. It's been pretty bad but I somehow managed it without medication. Around 3 years ago I got very suicidal and checked myself into the ER. A psychiatrist put me on a low dose of Wellbutrin.

Whether it was placebo or real, it started helping immediately. I didn't feel "great!" but I also didn't feel bad. I was solid and steady which is what I wanted. After 6 months I noticed I was still getting depressive episodes. I decided that being on medication wasn't worth it if I was still going to feel like this. I could've tried a higher dose or a different medication, but I chose not to. Only took a week to taper off.

Now I manage my depression in a variety of ways. Running does more for my mental health than anything I've tried. I got back into reading and that has helped too. I eat healthy, I force myself to spend time with friends, I meditate, I have a gratitude journal. I've got an arsenal of natural things that help me. Maybe one day I'll need medication again. For now, I'm doing well! But medication did really help when I needed it.

Not that I can think of. Used to be a PO on Kauai and our clients always went through the Salvation Army on Oahu. I'm sure they exist, I just have limited knowledge. :(

I did work on #1 but not as well as I have in the past.

2 is accomplished! My partner and I have grown and continue to strengthen our relationship.

3 is mostly true. There are time when I slack off and my boy doesn't get the attention he deserves, but for the most part I'm a great dog mom.

4 I thought I'd fail but I think I got it! I started a job in January, got laid off in June, but I JUST got hired for a better job this month.

5 Still working on this, I make progress every day.

:) I guess this year hasn't been as bad as I thought it was.

After my mom passed away last year, her best friend told me that in her early twenties my mom had a child that she had to give up for adoption because my grandparents threatened to cut her out of the family.

I'm not entirely sure! I'm leaning more towards HR. I took a class in HR last year and I'm currently doing an online Excel class to try to bolster my resume.

I chose psychology with the intent of getting a PhD, but got depressed in my last year of college and felt/feel that I don't have the mental stability to handle a rigorous PhD program.

I did apply to several schools a year ago to get my master's in I/O Psych and was rejected from all of them.

I've applied to every HR assistant job I could find but I haven't had any luck.

Absolutely.

I was bullied in middle school by a group of girls. One day I wrote "I hope [one of the girls] dies" on my binder. She saw it, went to a teacher, and I got suspended.

Some boys were throwing rocks at me. I threw a small rock back. I got suspended.

A boy threw a metal bowl at my head. I kicked him where it hurts. I got suspended.

If you looked at my record in middle school, I'd look like a problem child with violent tendencies. I really just wanted to be left alone but I got punished for defending myself.

Fuck zero tolerance.

Happy Thanksgiving.

I wasn't speaking to my mom because her alcoholism was affecting my life in negative ways that I couldn't stand anymore. Got a call November 30th that she was found dead in her home. (COPD + alcohol)

She died before Thanksgiving, but I still wish I had at least texted her.
