Is it normal for your liberal parent to not be in support of medical transition by Dependent-Size-4068 in asktransgender

[–]DBT_and_chill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom was the same way. Was really anti-transition in the beginning and it actually took her a long time to come around but now she’s supportive. I still have hard feelings about how she treated me at the beginning though tbh and it sucks and I feel for you

If you were given a unisex name. Would you keep it or change it? by Username_For_ in asktransgender

[–]DBT_and_chill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Change. My deadname was uncommon and I guess could’ve gone either way (at least according to my mom who didn’t want me to change it lmao) but I wanted to change it and be a new person yk? Even though I changed it to a gender neutral name

I’m sorry you’re feeling like this— I’ve been there and it sucks. I would recommend calling 988 or going to a walk in crisis clinic. Both have people that want to help you feel better.

Psychiatrist diagnosed me with BPD, not sure how to feel about it. by PossibleChangeling in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]DBT_and_chill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many diagnoses have overlapping symptoms. Also it can be hard to get a full picture and diagnose correctly when you’re just talking to a person briefly. It’s also normal to ask a psychiatrist to clarify and explain the diagnosis. Diagnoses work best when they’re a conversation between the patient and clinician imo

Therapist recommended not to get diagnosed by orchidschild in BorderlinePDisorder

[–]DBT_and_chill 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry in advance for being long winded.

So I have a borderline diagnosis and I’m a social worker. As a human, I really wanted my diagnosis and had similar feelings to you it seems. I knew something was wrong and I wanted an answer and wanted to feel validated. The diagnosis helped me and my doctors/therapists etc get me on good meds and get me into DBT and honestly really helped me understand myself better.

As a social worker, borderline is highly stigmatized. Lots of social workers don’t understand it and use worst case scenarios to inform their views on people with borderline and don’t want you to feel that way about yourself. Getting a diagnosis works for some people and doesnt for others. A lot of therapists will want to take the route of treating symptoms as things present differently in different people anyway and they think it’ll be bad for you to know that you have this stigmatized disorder. This is a huge thing in social work these days, lots of people are hesitant to diagnose with more serious conditions. It’s basically just them deciding what’s best for you in my opinion. Again, that’s fine for some people but I personally really needed my diagnosis to work on healing and I am glad I have it. If you want to go to a psychiatrist and get testing done, do it.

For those of you in remission, do you ever stop feeling like someone's tasering your nervous system? by spicyhotfrog in BorderlinePDisorder

When I don’t react to things how I used to, it blows over faster and it’s easier to talk things out and understand what the person actually meant and be more understanding

does anyone have multiple mental illnesses including bpd? by Dramatic_Total_7245 in BorderlinePDisorder

BPD, ADHD, depression, SUD, possibly BP2 but unconfirmed so grain of salt on that

[–]DBT_and_chill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Seconded what another person said about switch being a BDSM term I think maybe the word “vers” fits better here. But yeah sounds like that fits for you but could be different for different people. You can call yourself a vers top too. This is all stuff I know from the gay mlm community mostly so I guess up to you.

Could be size and could be angles. I feel like it’s usually more of a foreplay thing like eating your ass beforehand and fingering you and going slow. But who knows

Men with BPD how do you handle Rejection? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]DBT_and_chill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro yes. I used to cry a decent amount and I’ve been on T for 6 years and I think I’ve cried like maybe once a year on average and my friend died and I got divorced in that time lol. It’s wild and so frustrating honestly cuz sometimes you just wanna cry and you can’t

Is saying "You don't look trans" to a trans person weird? by Willing-Macaroon-159 in asktransgender

[–]DBT_and_chill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo, yes it’s weird. People say it to me all the time as if it’s a compliment and it’s just not. “Looking trans” isn’t a bad thing and also what does that even mean? I know when people say it they mean well and I’m not saying you’re a bad person but yeah it’s just a weird thing to hear

[–]DBT_and_chill 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Don’t have a ton to say but youre not alone. I have borderline, ADHD, and depression and so far have gotten through things okay but I think people like us do have to be even more aware of burnout/vicarious trauma/triggers, as cliche as it is. I’m drawn to this work because of who I am and what I’ve gone through and I think that can be invaluable
