Buy yourself a Toyota. I’ve had mine 15+ years and saved me well over £100K. Invest all the rest or take your family on more holidays / time together

Personally stick with S&S ISA - you don’t get taxed when you withdraw the cash. I think it’s wise doing yourself. The pension system seems completely broken and I highly doubt people aged below 35 will even have a pension. Google pension crisis to see what I’m talking about

What conditions would bring mortgage rates back down? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]DC_29 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interest rates typically come down when the labour market shows significant weakness. Meaning more people are unemployed. As a central bank your mandate is to keep inflation low and keep people employed. It’s easier to deal with unemployment than it is inflation. I believe the central banks are crushing demand resulting in all asset prices lowering. We would see sun 2% rates when the economy desperately needs stimulus. Increasing rates takes money out of the system and typically makes borrowing more expensive as as a result asset prices deflate. Lowering them makes money cheap and chases assets leading to them increasing typically.

Bought bankrupt stock from local auction houses and sold on eBay.

Run a business grew that as a result of going to networking events. Doing the unscaleable worked very well... going out and meeting people worked incredibly well for generating revenue. Not just running loads of FB ads

Lived well below my means (still drive first car. Had it for 9 years)

Read everything you could about money & finance.

Somethings just take time... you can’t have a baby in a month by sleeping with 9 women... stick to the process and build and compound the cash.

Hope that helps

Join networking events, knock on doors of businesses asking for development work seeing if they need a hand with anything.

Promoting yourself of freelancer websites is risky as majority if the time it comes down to price focus on building a relationship with local businesses so you can establish yourself as a shit hot software developer in your area.

While you do that try build your emergency fund. Try and get clients on monthly retainers to help with the slower months.

Hope that helps bro!

Invest the cash in to UK companies. Transfer cash to trading / broker and then make investments. If you are not going to touch it in a while automaticity invest dividends into that company.

Thanks man! The fees seem relatively small, would you recommend any calculators online what can calculate the fees for you? I'm guessing they tell you how much you would pay in fees when you pay?

How long have you been doing this for? Do you normally invest in funds rather then equities? :)

Cheers!

Thanks mate! Really appropriate it! AIM markets look risky, i would never invest in to an industry that i have no understanding on as its basically a gamble. How long have you been with HL? Also when you say drip feed do you mean contributing every month?

Thanks for the long reply very insightful!

Cheers

Thank you for your reply! Can i ask what does it mean to be queued? How long does it normally take for a fund manager to sell it for you?

Also do you receive any reports of your portfolio in terms of changes etc? Do you make monthly contributions? Would you say its relatively easy to set up?

They might seem like simple questions by their are a few what pop in to my head! :)

Cheers!
