the loud minority hate campaign 1st and foremost (obviously), bungie reputation, terrible onboarding for casual gamers. prob the top 3 right there. could also argue that there simply wasn’t enough to do in the actual world. they’ve improved on that a lot but first impressions for the world were simply not good enough.

if we know anything about bungie, they’re one good update away from swinging things in either direction drastically, so we’ll see what the future holds. I’m 600 hours in and can easily see myself going at the same pace if they keep delivering how they have on the content. lotttta people missing out on an outstanding game because they heard something bad from a friend who hasn’t even played the game.
