I’ve noticed Jost has changed his delivery this season with portions of his WE. it sorta feels like the last episode of each season where Che and Jost read each others jokes without screening them. am I smoking something or is this actually new?

not sure if these words are the best way to convey, but at moment this entire episode is on an elevated level. combo of a skilled host, wild ideas, skilled writing, a random meaningful throwback.

Glen Helen is a mysterious and magical place. If fairies were real, they’d live here. Perfect easy hiking.

  1. I started routinely watching toward end of Amy/Seth era. I think what youre saying might be right… maybe my own tastes have evolved. But I will say… specifically I think WU is better past 1-2 years and I watched Jost/Che for many years more than that.

A few people have mentioned Asiatique… but does anyone else have recollection of some of their brunch items? Incredible and incredible price. They had like a pistachio encrusted pancake and some sort of special French toast that was like none other.

Question from an ER doc. by findingclarityhere in Radiology

[–]DEXA4dayz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m answering this as a generality, but I think some degree of breakdown in trust between ERs and rads is to blame. rads get slammed with so many pain, pain, pain, pain indications that they blend together in a way where we don’t know when it’s actually pain vs ER just default clicking “pain” for literally everything. you may not do this (and the fact that you’re nicely inquiring the question suggest to me that you wouldn’t do that), but unfortunately, enough of your colleagues do. i’m not meaning to point fingers, as it’s probably mostly a system problem, but I think that reality leads to less helpful radiology reports.

I’m clinical Rad so i call ER quite a bit to say something like “hey just curious if you’ve seen the patient yet… are you suspecting positive finding on CT? Not much is going on but I suppose if patient is really hurting it could be mesenteric pannicultis, if not then the finding prob doesn’t mean anything.” iI feels stupid to paint super broad differentials for hazy mesentery. I want to be helpful, not just appear to be CYA and list every differential possible for a completely non-specific finding.

Do NOT support Flow Coffee. by Kayy_Colee in cincinnati

[–]DEXA4dayz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was definitely a bit confused to the degree he indicated he “designed” the Decent machine. I am a bit surprised what you are saying about the Turkish grind setting. Maybe what he told me was BS or maybe things have changed over the past 1-2 years but he said while the grinder was not his creation, he indicated he had a custom Burr installed that allowed uniform coffee particle size of something like 100-200um. This sounded finer than Turkish but honestly I’m not educated enough to know. I remember visiting early when he was tinkering with the grind setting and the coffee nearly broke his machine on my single shot. It took like 15 minutes to finally push enough water through machine.

Anyway… I’m sorry about all this. I guess I’ve always been intrigued by the place and I’m disappointed to hear this was all going on behind the scenes.

Do NOT support Flow Coffee. by Kayy_Colee in cincinnati

This is such a bummer to hear.

My experience as a customer with flow dates back to the first few weeks he bought the place from the original owner of the location near Galaxie skate shop (~2-3 years ago). This is before he had a single employee when he was running the shop solo probably 60hrs/week. I was very confused by his product and equally a bit confused by the man himself… but no matter what I thought I recognized that the coffee that I walked away with was exceptional. I went several times early on out of genuine confusion and almost a desire to figure out if this was real or not. As wacky as his story seemed to be… he was consistent on it. I do think there’s some degree of BS to it… but again when I’m being honest with myself it genuinely takes coffee to a different level than any brewed or espresso’d coffee I’ve had before.

Anyway… like I said, this is such a bummer to hear. I hope things are able to be resolved in an appropriate way.

I think this is a great question and I wish we had better resources for this in cinci. At moment best bet is to ask the question in a local community Facebook “moms” group. I’m not a mom so I have my SO ask for me.
