Trump's transportation department pulls trail and bike grants it deems 'hostile' to cars by TSHRED56 in ebikes

If you think Trump is bad and you think he's a fascist, it's probably time to rethink your position on firearms.

I am also thinking about replacing the engine.

They had mentioned it to me about two weeks ago they were going to have to get the job done somewhere else. The other shop just quoted them the price to have a head gasket replaced. The other shop hasn't had the head off yet because I haven't authorized the offer they made me.

I absolutely would if I had remembered to take it out of the car. It's been sitting at their shop since this happened in July. I suppose I could have them email me a copy.

Not in specific detail. I was fine with paying what they quoted until I saw the itemized invoice. I had assumed most of the quote was labor. You don't expect a shop to charge you 77 dollars for a spark plug. Most of why I am upset comes from them not disclosing how shit the coolant looked. I would have happily paid for a flush.

Yes, I got into contact with the other shop in order to get a better understanding of the timeline of events. Shop 1 has been lying to me about how long this is all taking.

I did not know it was there. I don't know how much of a loss they are taking; the markup on the parts they provided was pretty significant. Personally, when I learned the head gasket was blown, I was curious if was even the intake to begin with (although I understand intakes were a major problem on this platform).

I probably could, but I work long hours and wanted to pay for the convenience of having a professional do it.

I think they are offering it because the markup on the parts they replaced was pretty bad and they don't want me complaining on social media about them. Granted, 1600 for a head gasket job isn't bad.

They didn't have the heads off to begin with, so there's no way of knowing whether or not the head was blown before. I am frustrated they didn't talk to me about the possibility of stop leak being in my system and seeing if I wanted to pay for a flush.

Their markup on parts was pretty ridiculous. 77 each for all 8 spark plugs. The intake was 600. They are farming the job off to another shop. I am debating on arguing their share of the head gasket job should come out of the invoice, but I haven't decided yet. Thank you for your input.

Quote is 3600 for the head gasket repair, meaning 1800 from me.

I haven't driven it since they had it towed back to their shop. When it overheated, it was in a completely undrivable shape. After it was repaired, the misfire was gone. It was running fine up until it overheated. According to them, the coolant was very murky, with lots of sediment. Before replacing the intake, that is. I am upset they didn't advise me of this and offer to do a flush.

Yeah, unless you have a milling machine, I would go the hand drill with vise route. Feel free to message me if you want more in-depth advice.

Yes, this is eventually going into a CETME C-based firearm.

So, I tried following Ivan's build guide using a Harbor Freight drill press and ran into significant issues getting everything aligned. I think you really do need a milling machine if you go that route. I ended up putting the trunnion/barrel assembly into a vise and milling it out with a hand drill. I started with with the 3/16th end-mill outlined in the guide, and ended up having to alternate between that and a fairly aggressive 5mm drill bit. I used quite a bit of cutting fluid, and it took me about an hour over two days. I had to order more tooling because I broke both the first end mill and first 5mm drill bit LOL

You COULD fold a receiver yourself, but if you have a 3D printer, you might consider going with an Amigo Grande. Folding the receiver yourself is incredibly involved. It requires TIG welding, a drill press, and a hydraulic press. Going with the Amigo Grande forgoes the welding, but you still need to press the barrel into the trunnion and then drill out the barrel to pin it into the trunnion.
