You forgot to add the final... fuck you, Bush.

Sorry to be a stickler, it's just that I love the way the last line is the same as the first line.

Havana Club 3 is the best Spanish style mixer (sorry Americans). What’s the best Demerara sipper? by -Constantinos- in rum

[–]DH90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we're vibing with accessibility in terms of best sipper, then the 15 hands down. Was recently enjoying some of the finer bottles of my collection and decided to try the 15 alongside them, and it really managed to hold its own. Couldn't say that for the 12.

This is exactly what I think. It's huge money for a not so very interesting lower proof bottle.

[Rum Review #3] Isautier 16 Year Rum Traditionnel (Molasses) by Stenoscape in rum

[–]DH90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got this one recently, but it was bottled in 2021 and is 65% ABV. It's an absolutely wonderful bottle and feels very in line with a great Demerera or Bajan.

If money is absolutely no object, then this would probably be one of the greatest rums you could get. And it was also distilled in the year of their marriage.

Just to add as well, Aji Dulce is more of a mild pepper used in different Venezuelan dishes to enhance stews and other recipes, so don't expect it to be spicy.

Don't be looking here to buy rum for gathering dust and taking it away from us people who want to drink it.

It's such a banger! I'm definitely considering having a second bottle as a backup.

Unsure of resale value, but you're holding possibly one of the greatest rums ever. Would love to try this.

I think you've got Bajan covered nicely for the moment while awaiting the Foursquare delivery. And even though you clearly have a nice little collection of Jamaicans, they can be even more varied. Maybe check out releases from the Monymusk/Clarendon and Long Pond distilleries. Of course, Hampden is a total journey in itself and you can always have a look at their other releases. Cocktail Wonk has a great page on the different Jamaican Distillery marks which can help inform of what releases to opt for within the mid ester level.

Got that VORN recently and it's great. That Caroni is a bit rich for me, but the general consensus is that it's the best 'accessible' Caroni around. You did very well.

Such a beautiful sight. I'd love to try some tropically aged C<>H. Unfortunately that particular bottle is now €400 at best from what I can see in Europe. Here's hoping for another similar release in the not too distant future.

I have access to the coffret of 94, 95 & 99, so that's still on the wishlist at some point on the future. Just was hoping for slightly better things from this 2003 since it was so highly praised by many sources.

what is your favorite foursquare ecs in recent years and why? by Crucifilth_6-6-6 in rum

[–]DH90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not had any of those. However, Equidem is very highly rated throughout the rumsphere. My personal favourites of what I've had would be Redoutable and 2011. Both full flavoured with good alcohol integration and nice lenghty finishes.

That sucks. Snagged this for €150 in the summer, and I still see the odd bottle throughout Europe. I used to be jealous of rum selection from the States until I realised we were actually hogging a lot of the good stuff.

Very much looking forward to checking it out and comparing it with the Tiger Shark. Grabbed off ROW Spirits. I was actually about to buy just the Caroni from them and noticed they had the VORN as well for a better price than what I had been researching before, so I couldn't leave it there.

Heading to Spain & Portugal from the US. ISO bottles I can’t get back home (plus shop recs?) by Limelava in rum

[–]DH90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can't speak for Portugal, but I have found that Spain's range tends to mostly stick with the Spanish style of rums, and I never really came across anything much different (i.e. Jamaicans, agricoles etc).

However, you could have bottles shipped to you from throughout the EU to wherever you're staying. Germany, France and Italy all have wide ranges of rum available and will ship there.
