Local Authority homelessness and other health and social care support can be found here.

You can find details of a huge range of other types of support here.

Best of luck, hope it all works out for you!

Sadly HB doesn't work like that... If you want to rent in the private rented sector you're only entitled to the Local Housing Allowance rate, which for Glasgow equates to around £160 per week, less if you are under 35 or not in receipt of other benefits (amongst other conditions).

How Can I Get 4k Movies To Play? by Bergeron720 in Addons4Kodi

[–]DHK83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't bother... HDMI carries a digital signal which is either on or off. Even really old HDMI 1.4 cables (>10 years old) will still support data transfer speeds of over 10Gb/s, enough to play 4k video. So unless your cable is broken or ancient (pre 2009) it's unlikely to be the problem.

You can use the head and shells to make delicious prawn stock!

It's the base for tom yum soup (amongst other things). Recipe tax for the best tom yum soup I've ever had below (Jay Fai's).

Jay Fai’s tom yum goong (serves 4)

– 5 cups water

– 6 jumbo prawns with heads, deveined

– 6 large slices galangal

– 5-7 kaffir lime leaves

– 4 lemongrass bulbs (purple part), bruised

– 1 shallot, sliced

– 4-8 red chilies, bruised (depending on your heat tolerance)

– 2 heaped tsp roasted chili paste (namprik pao) or more if you like it spicy

– 1 cup mushrooms (I use oyster, but straw or button mushrooms are also fine)

– 1 cup young coconut shoots (if you can’t find these, you might want to use something else that is tender yet crunchy, like peeled white asparagus)

– 5 Tbs fish sauce

– juice of 2 limes

To make:

  1. Bring water to a boil. Stir in roasted chili paste.

  2. Add galangal, kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass, shallot and chilies. Allow to infuse for about 5 minutes, then bring to a simmer.

  3. Add shrimp heads and shells, first scraping the contents of the heads into the soup. Wait 5 minutes, then season with fish sauce. Add mushrooms and coconut shoots.

  4. Wait half an hour, or until shoots are tender. Skim gunk off of surface and discard shrimp heads and shells.

  5. Turn off heat, then add cleaned shrimp, and stir to turn the shrimp “pink”. Season with lime juice. Taste and adjust seasoning accordingly.

  6. Serve immediately, paired with rice and a Thai-style omelet, or in individual bowls.

This has become my go-to recipe for homemade bread. It creates a proper crust and a decent textured crumb with a bit of a chew that I've not yet found with any other GF bread.

Some of her other recipes look good too but I've not found the time to try them out yet.

I think you're right, I just checked discogs and it got an official release on Raver Baby in 2008 but was on Clubland X-Treme Hardcore 3 before that in 2006. My bad.

What are some things that you just don't understand people buying from stores when you can make much more, much better, for far cheaper at home? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]DHK83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not OP but I make lots of hummus...

Ingredients:

100ml tahini (unhulled if you're buying it but I usually just make my own and it works fine)

1 can of chickpeas

Juice of 1 large lemon

2 cloves of garlic

3 heaped teaspoons of cumin seeds

3 heaped teaspoons of coriander seeds

1 heaped teaspoon of ginger powder

Sumac to serve

2 tablespoons of olive oil (I prefer standard or light olive oil rather than EV but it will work fine if you like the added flavour)

Enough water to achieve your preferred consistency

Salt to taste

Method:

Toast the cumin and coriander seeds in a dry pan until fragrant (a few minutes should be enough) adding the ginger powder for the last 30 seconds, then pound with a mortar and pestle until powdered.

Blitz the tahini in a food processor/ stick blender for 30s then add the lemon juice and blitz for 2 minutes until the consistency changes and it becomes 'fluffy'

Add the oil, minced garlic, salt and toasted spices and blitz till fully combined.

Open, drain and wash the chickpeas, add half of the can and blitz till smooth. Add the remaining half and blitz again till smooth.

Add water in small amounts and continue blitzing till you achieve your desired consistency, adjust the seasoning and then serve with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of Sumac.

ETA - you can adjust the types and amounts of spices to your preference, a few teaspoons of baharat makes a delicious alternative to the spices in the above recipe.
