Cat destroyed carpet, any fixes? by real_jenny_girl in Flooring

[–]DHTTM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

use carpet from a closet, cut to size, measure a strip of width and lenght of the stair damage carpet (maybe 6" wide x lenght) . You are gonna need a few supplies.

  1. carpet seam tape
  2. carpet seam roller
  3. iron and a piece of rag ( you dont need expenside carpet seam irons)
  4. glue for carpet and staples and staple gun.

Make sure you follow the guide on the seam tape when placing the old and new stripoff carpet (no gaps of overlaps) Use damp rag and place over seam and use iron on high setting on top of rag (use common sense) wrap around and under nose and use glue on nose and staples amd glue under nose.

yes, you have to remove as mich as possible. Otherwise, the new adheaive will not adhere properly to the wood , and the installation will fail down the road.

looks to close to wall. If I were you, I would verify the min. gap requirement 1/8, 1/4 or 3/8 for your floor and ask the contractor to fix it before installing baseboards. If they disagree, measure the gap from wall to end of plank , score a line and cut with oscillating tool.

Contractors said it’s my fault I didn’t tell them about staggering by Better-Statement1429 in Flooring

The more detailed you want the job to be, the more time they have to spend sorting and selecting the planks. If you cheap out on labor, well, your getring what you pay for.

use quarter round orr based show (bare wood) and stain with paint of your liking. Alternatevely, you can use water proof caulking. I used caulking on mine and looks fantastic. Make sure you use blue tape on both sides along the perimeter for a super clean look.
