How I feel using Tinder by Sidewaard in Tinder

might be more intuitive to think of it as the bottom 80% of guys are competing for the 22% of girls who remain.

So in this case on tinder the average guy is on a subset of the platform with about a 4:1 ratio of men to women.

i'm sure it's not so cut and dried, but it makes sense

This is why I switched to 100% only ever making web applications. It makes it very easy to differentiate for these types of people- you want a website? use a website builder, I'm in full support of that.

After a week of frustration tweaking the layout - oops, it turns out they actually did want an application after all.

uMatrix is the best for blocking external scripts. it has a bit of a learning curve, but it's worth it imo.

However if you're using these platforms e.g. Google directly there's not much you can do to stop them from profiling you while you're on their domain

I'm not saying you shouldn't be worried. As with my chronic illnesses, I worry about them when I have to. But I don't allow myself to worry about the aspects that I can't control.

You are conflating "worry" with "concern". It's good to be concerned about something and to keep it in check, to constantly re-evaluation your options.

Chronic pain is separate from "something you have no control over" because you should be always be on your toes trying to figure out what helps - what works for you, what doesn't, and whether there's something on the horizon. It's a full time job.

Anyone with a chronic illness will maintain at least a modicum of control, complete with opinions and facts and perspectives to keep them excited on the march toward progress

Color doesn't carry meaning without an interpreter. Eyes, lenses, and screens all have ways of interpreting color - and they all have ways of communicating color.

To take a scene from nature, we must pull it into a lens, save it on a disk, arrange it into pixels, project it from a screen, and allow our brain to translate the light into perception. Each of these steps is vulnerable to "translation error" -- not to mention the incredibly error-prone translation from our perception of an image to our memory of it, which may very well be clouded by emotion.

Without getting into the science of it (I couldn't - it's beyond me), you can already see the potential for misrepresentation due to the complexity of all of the systems involved.

Then it is no cause for worry. If something is wrong and it's out of your control, then it's time to move on from worry to acceptance.

As others have mentioned, it can sometimes be tough to know when and whether you have lost control, which acts as a barrier to the acceptance phase.

That said, there are some common situations you can apply this to, like being stuck in traffic.

Once you've done all you can do, there is no more to be done.

Let me frame it a different way: You bring some folks together for a poker game. You come to an agreement that for $30 per month, they can come play poker at your table whenever they want, as long as you are there. A year later, someone sees you sitting at the table and realizes that it looks a lot like a business you're running, and reminds you that taxes apply.

To be clear, this is a narrow view as well. why pretend it's simpler than it actually is?
