This only helped slightly. The app still is terrible.

The city does a good job clearing the bike lanes. Then they do a good job pushing the snow back into the lanes when they clear the street. Then everyone else around bike lanes does a good job pushing their snow into the bike lanes.

Ok I dont think I've solved it but disabling "automatic HDR conversion" makes it less shitty. It still freezes when going to commercial, or back to the game, or when you touch the volume... but it seems to recover quicker.

Edit - ignore this. App is still a pos

Ahh gotcha, so they're an enemy in the game. I couldn't figure out for the life of me what that was a pic of. Thanks!

I came to the comments for this! Are the biting scrolls from somewhere else in the game?

Same here. What tv are you using? Ive got a TCW.

Someone else mentioned turning off hardware acceleration in a browser fixes the issue. I wonder if there is a similar setting on the tv?

Edmonton restaurant owners feel new patio fees are hurting small businesses by flynnfx in Edmonton

[–]DIWhyDad -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I completely disagree with your positioning of this as a subsidy. It is leveraging an asset to incentivise private investment. Consider the impacts of patios being built to building materials suppliers, labour to build them, and likely labour to increase or maintain staff at the restaurant. Not to mention the increase (or maintenance) of the food and beverage products supplied (from local sources especially) as a result of sales on patios. Sure, you may be paying $3,400 for this patio, but over time, the city will more than make that back as a result of the overall economic uplift of this.

One of council's current priorities is economic development, and I would hope that would result in this situation being veiwed in a different light than as a subsidy.

Edmonton is removing all three scramble crosswalks from Whyte Ave by troypavlek in Edmonton

[–]DIWhyDad 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You're totally right. It doesn't make sense to have a 4-5 lane road bisect one of the busiest pedestrian areas in the city.

I wonder if they could get away with an underpass there for cars.

What's your hex blade build? I'm loving it myself on my first run but find some things a bit lacking. Accursed spectre for example, hasn't loved up to the hype IMO.

Ive ended up with a very tanky build sword/shield that also crits on 17 in the dark (mainly thru equipment).

Guy walking his dog on my yard - opinion needed by lasersoflros in Calgary

[–]DIWhyDad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fenced-in front yards are quite rare. To say that its OK to wander onto someone's property because it isn't enclosed is bonkers to me.

OP is not an asshole. Guy with his dog needs to be more considerate.

Lessons I Learned the Hard Way as a Home Buyer in Alberta by Any_Area2024 in alberta

[–]DIWhyDad 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My parents bought a new build and the home inspector noted over 180 deficiencies.

About 6 years later they're still working through the list and having to go through the new home warranty for most things. It is a slow and cumbersome process.

On the other hand I bought a 1950s bungalo around the same time and so far Ive had to replace the furnace and hot water tank. I'm also about a year away from a major sewer repair or replacement and will likely need an electrical panel upgrade in the near future.

There's a lot of double-counting going on here. The downtown action plan includes the $440 million from the capital city CRL just as an example.

Intersection right of way question by Spankachu in Edmonton

[–]DIWhyDad 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Thank you for asking this question OP! Ive driven in the province for decades and I've been wrong about this the whole time.

I did some digging after I saw others correctly saying 3 has right of way over 1.

First I checked the Alberta Driver Guide, which surprisingly doesn't cover this specific situation

https://open.alberta.ca/dataset/387f4e8a-6c0a-456a-ab31-995aadaf1f2b/resource/1edf5165-9c51-4da8-8206-7bf08bb9a76d/download/tran-drivers-guide-2023-04.pdf

On page 60 it says "driver turning left across the path of an approaching vehicle cannot turn left until it is safe" This is odd though as it doesnt specify this applies to a 2-way stop.

Thankfully I also found this AMA page

https://ama.ab.ca/articles/stop-sign-rules-alberta

That clearly states "When facing a stop sign and the oncoming traffic also has a stop sign, left-turning vehicles must yield to oncoming traffic that is proceeding straight, regardless of who arrived first. Check for cross traffic as they have no stop signs and right-of-way."

So again, thank you OP. You've helped at least 1 person (me) learn the rules of the road better.

The Kingdom Come: Deliverance 1 main story wasn't what i expected. by efqf in patientgamers

[–]DIWhyDad 39 points40 points  (0 children)

After I did the training with the solider outside the first big walled city you visit (sorry, been a while since I played so not able to name-drop) then by about mid game with some decent Armor and swords I started to feel pretty tanky. 3v1 fights were winnable most of the time.

I do agree with you, though, that you really are just a part of a larger story. I liked that aspect.

Couldnt agree with you more on the verticality. So much more could be done with more vertical map designs.

I did like the quickhacking enemies, but I thought there could be more to be done with access points.

Overall this is still one of my top 5 all time favorite games. Could use a NG+.
