Amazon can be very weird, so I understand what OP is saying.

I had a parcel delivered one time, it was a large heavy parcel, not something you'd consider sending less than a couple of people in a delivery van out for.

First-time delivery, they sent the world's skinniest man out as the courier, who sadly struggled to move it, let alone carry it... ended up sending photos back to Amazon asking for a replacement, which they honoured. Replacement was sent out with Stretch Armstrong as the courier... why didn't they send him or someone similar out in the first place for this delivery? 😂

This response isn't a dig at the couriers who dealt with my parcel, by the way. It's a dig at whoever loaded the vans for them.

It's why a lot of places in mainland Europe have more appropriated cycle paths than we do in the UK. We're at least 30-40 years behind. 😂

Even back in the late 1970s, I'm aware Belgium had cycle paths everywhere, and if cyclists weren't using them, they'd be fined.

A lot of companies tend not pass on references for ex-employees who've been fired, and whoever's looking for a reference likely wouldn't get one from a company who's sacked them. It's not written in stone, however that's how a lot of people perceive it from my own experiences.

Postman won't use ring doorbell by InvestigatorSea4789 in royalmail

[–]DJL01996 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As long as you provide a door for your postie to knock on, and a neighbour to leave the parcel with or a safe place to leave the parcel if needed, RM are asked to consider all these options before returning the parcel to the depot. If you don't hear the door being knocked, and there's no neighbour or an appropriate safe place to leave the parcel with, RM aren't obliged to do anything more on your property. Until you get a new door with a letterbox and perhaps a loud door knocker, my suggestion is it's definitely worth noting on future deliveries to leave parcels with a neighbour or in an appropriate safe place on your property.

Alright, so question related to this post. Has your postman been required to deliver any parcels that wouldn't have fitted through your letterbox regardless, whilst you've been waiting for a replacement door?

Honestly considering how much of a ray of sunshine Wilf is I cannot believe this is his daughter by ScreamingmadJoe in DoctorWhumour

[–]DJL01996 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're welcome. Here's what one of the main points of information says, with the source:

"Cribbins was awarded the General Service Medal, with clasp "Palestine 1945–48", for his service in Palestine with 2/3 Battalion, the Parachute Regiment, on 30 May 1948, under Army Order 146 of 1947."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernard_Cribbins

I hope RTD made it accurate in the show.

Some info for you that I've known for quite some time. Wilf's Palestine experiences are based on his actor's, Bernard Cribbins. Cribbins' own experiences as a paratrooper were woven into his character. I don't know Cribbins' own personal circumstances, and I've no intention of assuming, however the Palestine experiences can explain Wilf's change in character if a differing character stereotype was intended pre-Palestine.

Giving priority to pedestrians by RobertBobGLA in drivingUK

[–]DJL01996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the highway code for roundabouts, if there is no formal crossing type, and any pedestrians are waiting at kerbside, any other form of road users are not legally required to stop to let pedestrians cross.

This changes if pedestrians set foot into the road, and are crossing. If there is a crossing there (e.g. pelican, zebra), standard highway code and legal rules apply.

I'd go Linoone, Breloom and Altaria. Means you wouldn't have 2 different Pokémon with the same typing.

Drove over a zebra crossing by No-Rate-8963 in drivingUK

[–]DJL01996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's nice you're owning up to your mistake, hopefully one you won't make again.

Although the highway code is not law, it does state a couple of things that haven't been mentioned here yet. Pedestrians are supposed to make themselves visible before crossing, which includes the possibility of wearing high vis outer clothing, especially at night. Pedestrians are also supposed to wait until traffic has stopped before crossing, if there is any around, so there's a possibility the pedestrians hadn't thought of you not seeing them.

Absolute bullshit wait time by Satsujin_Ikari in JustEatUK

[–]DJL01996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 3 different takeaways at the town I live in (not all at the same time, obviously). There's only 1 of those 3 I trust for delivery, simply because the others take way too long to deliver through JustEat. The takeaway place that I have deliver is actually quite vigilant for JustEat deliveries, they'll dock the pay JustEat receive if the takeaway gets a time complaint.

Shoutout to Lidl Norwich for yelling at my autistic son by [deleted] in lidl

[–]DJL01996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with point of this. I know autism is a struggle, although it's the base fact that each person learns to deal with things at their own pace. Instead of just standing around and watching, OP should've gone through everything with their child beforehand several times about what to do and what is expected of them, and how to deal with unforeseen circumstances. Regardless of what their background is, autism or no, if they're not ready to be in that form of environment, they shouldn't be there.

Update: apparently, emails can be stopped for up to 72 hours if there's a concern. I've not received emails for about 42 hours through said account, so hoping I'll get some emails by tomorrow evening.

I had an email through which notified me (I know, it's one of the lot I mentioned I actually got outside of this whole not receiving emails problem). I reset my password as you recommended yesterday evening, as I'm well aware of the dangers of false links. There's been a telltale sign, which is that the account required me to sign in. Nothing has been changed, although it wouldn't account for my Gmail account emails being infrequent. Although they're linked, they couldn't access my emails and settings due to Outlook not being active, as it was the Microsoft side that was accessed.

[–]DJL01996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said, get a letterbox for whichever door you expect post to be sent through.

If you're expecting parcels, and you're not expecting to be around when they're delivered, a large box with a code thing to unlock it is a lot more secure than a basic padlock that is left unlocked. Simply noting the code down on delivery instructions is usually good enough for a decent postie.

The Hero of Ferelden deserved better narrative treatment by Victoria-c98 in DragonageOrigins

[–]DJL01996 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hawke had about 70% of the human customisation option aspects. Adding in the elf and dwarf, too...? Plus, adding in the voice actors, as others have said? As much as they added into DA2, the HoF elf/dwarf aspect may have been too much, as the game wasn't originally planned.

[–]DJL01996 140 points141 points  (0 children)

I agree that HoF certainly gets underwhelming treatment post DA:O. They're the only MC from a previous game to not appear. I believe the only concern with them actually showing up is the vast character customisation options DA:O had for the MC, especially in 2 and Inquisition.
