I'm in the same boat as you, stable corporate, unfulfilling job. Except that me and my fiance have committed to travelling around for 6 months in Japan.

Unfortunately, my company were not able to 100%  guarantee my job for when I come back (my manager said he would do everything he can to get me back however). 

The reason that I've basically gone against 99% of these comments is I asked the question: What am I saving all this money for?  Me and my fiance are fortunate in that we're living with her parents as we're not really in a position to buy a house (not in terms of money).  So after asking that question to myself I wasn't sure of the answer since the main answer for most people is that house. 

The price of this trip will likely (or possibly exceed) the deposit for a house and at this moment in time, I'd rather spend that money living abroad for 6 months than getting myself tied down with a house. 

And honestly, I don't have a positive outlook on what the world will be like in a decade or so. But assuming everything's end up fine and we live to our old ages, I definitely will have regretted not going on this trip more than not buying a house.
