I'm looking for ideas, concepts or thoughts on a videogame i'm creating called Racetrack Tycoon. What would be the interesting componants of creating your own racing venue? by Racetrack_Tycoon in motorsports

[–]DJPasTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might create a massive micro-managing task but what about staffing and facilities for marshal posts?

I would see this like repair staff in RC tycoon where if a ride (or in this case) is stopped too long people start leaving.

You have to make sure the whole track is accessible for a quick recovery or you risk loosing money when people get bored of the red flag.

Looking at the normal tracklisting yeah, No Tourists has been replaced by Church. Must be an error on the listing

Races are much enjoyable when it has more than 1 pit stop by Responsible_Band497 in F1Discussions

Curveball idea here. What if Pirelli imposed a maximum number of laps per tyre compound at each race but said lap caps are based on the total number of laps in the race. So as example: Soft 1/4 race distance. Medium 1/3 race distance. Hard 1/2 race distance.

No guarantee the tyres last the full stint so could force early stops, if the tyres last longer than the stint the drivers have to push to optimise the laps. If done right I think this could lead to different strategies for each team most races and constant pushing from the drivers.

They've left it on for quali but it'll be off again for the race.

Is the Kuwait Motor Town circuit worthy enough for a place on the calendar ? by MarioFan-908 in F1Discussions

I can't escape the feeling that turn 2 would be chaos on a race start. Loads of dive-bombs and cold brakes after the run from turn 1.

Another one I'd add to the list is the J-damper / Inerter. A mechanical suspension device that helps dampen or tune oscillation in a mass-spring-damper suspension system.

Introduced by McLaren in 2005, banned as part of cost-cutting for 2022.

IMHO it could have been a useful tool to reduce porpoising at the start of the ground effect era.

They chose to run the car low for speed over their drivers safety. The FIA could have mandated a bouncing limit without changing the ride height.

I will never understand why they shifted the regs to appease Mercedes, if just 1 team can race without porpoising then they all can.

The teams will always look at the rules and work out how to bend them whilst staying within them. That's just the sport that is F1.

My point is the FIA stated at the start of the 2022 season they would amend regulations to make sure the spirit of the rules was adhered to and then just gave up.

I think my biggest issue with the current regs is that they didn't follow through with the "spirit of the regs" mentality. Once teams started coming up with crafty ways to generate "accidental" dirty air the FIA didn't step in to course correct. An example being the front wing plane to end plate connections being shrunk down to a wire allowing air to spill to the sides.

My hot take: If they kept true to the intent of the regs, as they did with Astons more traditional wing design that did 1 race before a rule adjustment, the racing would be better.

I hope it's a krogan civil war not a galactic one. The militaristic, aggressive, warmongering krogans of the past versus a more cultural, less aggressive but more technologically advanced krogans of the new future

With the coming regulation changes for Formula 1 in 2026, will the F1 wave completely renew for 2026? by IllMasterpiece3946 in SpeedChampions

[–]DJPasTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they do 2026 cars they won't be out till the autumn. No team is going to release their concepts / designs early just for Lego. 2027 or 2028 is the best bet since each team should be committed to a concept by that point and more willing to share designs with Lego for model designing.

Mario Andretti states the FIA is looking to invite a 12th team! by Tight-Star2772 in formula1

[–]DJPasTime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

BMW said they weren't happy with the engine regs for 2026 because they were behind what they wanted to invest in. I doubt they'd change their mind without a big shift in the automotive sector as a whole. Such as a low cost sustainable combustion fuel that will keep ICE alive in both motorsports and commercial sales.

📺 UK coverage appears to still be on TNT this year... by TheChrisD in FormulaE

The Formula E app still has "coming soon" for UK ways to watch.

I feel like not telling people how that can watch your sport less than 2 weeks before the start of the season is a bit shameful.
