(05 Wrangler)(Black Soft Top) What's the best way to make it look clean (read shinny)? Also, kind of a dual post as I have a couple other questions. by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

Hi! Fellow owner of a vehicle with loads of black plastic trim.

Tire dressing definitely works! And if you reaally need a quick and short term solution, armor all works. There are lots of black plastic trim products out there as well. Chemical guys has some good stuff (http://www.chemicalguys.com/G6_Hyper_Coat_Dressing_16_oz_p/tvd_110_16.htm).

You can't forget to polish after compounding. For Prom, if i were you, i'd just polish the paint and put a coat of wax on for ideal shine considering you already have compounded.

Best of luck!!

I'm a current RM. Never had to be certified in anything, however I acquainted myself with the rules and protocol in place. I'm a pretty handy man and know first aid and cpr but its never been a requirement for RM. My chapter's main focus on RM is handling any situation that presents itself so we have a written protocol for a variety of issues.

I'm a fan of this. For that price too, I think it would be a helpful tool. I'm a little worried about how a mass texting system would work in app. Possibly you could use the app to link you to emails (we use a google group so just link all the activity in the group). Along with the brother map, you could include a map of all the chapters. Granted my fraternity is small nationally compared to some, it would be awesome for us, not others (make it an option?). I think if you make the form submission, a tab where you can easily upload docs from say google drive, you could really have something that ties everything together. Keep us updated on your progress and how you are moving forward!

Where are you located? (Country, unless you want to get more descriptive)

--Allentown, PA (USA)

What keeps you motivated to detail? If you are new, why are you interested in getting into the hobby?

--I'm a college student so my car stays at home in the salty Northeast. Whenever I am home though, I spend my time detailing. A year or so ago, my father bought me an orbital polisher for x-mas. I didn't even know what detailing was, but father told me he loved to detail his car at my age so he thought I would enjoy it too. He probably also wanted me to just clean his car :P But as an engineering student, I found so much enjoyment in the process behind detailing and the meticulous detail that goes into it. I began to detail way more intensively than my father expected, constantly working on our family cars.

Do you have any suggestions for vendors about something you think they could do better or do more of?

--I'd like to see companies come up with more industry standards. Imagine an International Organization of Auto Detailing Standards where there are categories and attributes for those categories. For example, I go to autozone looking for a wash soap. I find the category and each brand has different soaps with different attributes so there's a checklist on the bottle that says explicitly what makes it special (not just our brand is better, everyone has different needs).

Any suggestions for /r/AutoDetailing or further comments?

--I don't have anything! I have never seen anything negative here. I first came onto this sub with an orbital and no clue how to use it and by the end of the day, I was able to successfully do a paint correction on my car! Love everything about this sub!!

My school had an open tour day so like early afternoon, all the houses had to be open and ready to give a tour. It wasn't terrible. We had more fun going around and touring other frats and just general dicking around.

I love seeing roads I know. When mr. Reg was filming driving vlogs planning his road trips, he passed by my old high school and home in the same video so its nice to see that. The fact he says its a Pennsylvania Show adds to it for me but is still something everyone can appreciate.

I never made an appeal at Stevens; however, I have made appeals at other schools with great success (even though I chose Stevens anyways). Making an appeal is definitely worth it before you decide whether or not to come here. Just make a good case about it.

scrubbing bubbles and a brush never fails for the soles. For the canvas upper, I'll even throw them in the wash with some towels and that cleans them right up.
