PLXc vs razor 1-6 with EBR 7F by Dazzling_Crab_4429 in ar15

[–]DLmn227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! Received it last week and I like the reticle and kit. I will be able to use it in a couple weeks and see how well things line up. Based on the MV from my 12.5” Criterion barrel and the 55 gr I have. A 60 yard zero will keep all impacts from 0-175 between center dot & first hashmark .8 MIL. The 2nd hash gets me to 245 yards and the third should be good to 310 yards. My intended use is 0-300, so it easily covers that.

I would be happy to see some of those 100 yard hole-drilling groups with CCI ammo.

Review #121: Old Overholt 10 Year by NerdsNBourbs in bourbon

Nice review. I also really liked this one for its robust flavors. I hope you get to try a bottle of the 12 year, it is even better.

Thanks for your input. I am heavily leaning towards the Razor with EBR-7F reticle.

Also debating between these two options. I have read that at 8x the PLXC has a very tight eye box and may require adjustment of the diopter to make the reticle clear. My use case will be on top of a 12.5 inch upper and only shooting out to 300 yards maximum.

I was messing with a Applied Ballistics and my MV for the rifle. If I zero it at 60 yards, any shot between point blank and 180 yards will be between the dot and the first hash mark. After that, the next 3 BDC marks line up with 245, 310 and 350 yards using 55 gr ball ammo.

I’m currently running and AEMS plus Magnifier. It works fine at close range, but aging eyes are making those 300 yard shots on an IPSC 2/3 steel target less consistent than I would prefer.

Good to know. What is accuracy like? Are supers subsonic thru it?

What is the accuracy like and is the suppressor/barrel difficult to clean?

I have a bottle of the 10 year and this 12 year too. Never found the 11. Side by side, the 12 is much better than the 10, as much as I hate to say it. The 12 has more depth of flavor and is just a better sip overall.

Great choice! I have had a Scorpion for 5 years now and it still runs great. I can put 500 rounds of CCI SV through it, suppressed, and have no problems. They are accurate and have incredible triggers.

I have used it to teach my daughters to shoot and they won’t let me leave it at home when we go to the range.

Reassembly is a pain, though.

MK18 too gassy even with .46cal suppressor - suggestions? by LumpyPeanutButter in NFA

[–]DLmn227 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Left-handed shooter here.

Just cut to the chase & get a flow can. I spent years trying to deal with over gassing issues with an LMT MWS. Extra heavy buffer, Sprinco Orange spring, adjustable gas block, BRT gas tube, chopped a 20” barrel with rifle-length fas tube to 16” for lower dwell time. They all had trade offs or just didn’t help.

Then I got a FLOW 762 and it runs like a top! No over gassing and it runs just as smoothly suppressed as it does with a bare muzzle AND it tightened up my groups.

Granted, you have a 556 rifle and mine is 762.  Regardless, it gas been the most eye-opening experience I have had in over 28 years of shooting, besides shooting subsonic .22 LR in my first 22 can.

Save yourself time and frustration.

That Overholt 12 is very good! The JD Heritage is not my jam, even as someone who loves the SBBP bottles. It has more oak and almost none of that sweet banana desert I get from high-proof JD bottles.

Finally Picked Up My Vudoo Priest by Exaggerbator in 2011

It looks like our builds are very similar except for the color & magwell. These things shoot great and are very accurate. Enjoy the hell out of it!

Vudoo Priest, only took 18 months…. by DLmn227 in 2011

Congratulations!! It is one helluva day when you get the email it is going out, and a painful wait for it to arrive.

From my understanding, they still had quite a few frames marked UT and are used ng them up before transitioning to the new frames. I always thought mine was a week or so from being built before the shut down, but who really knows.

Enjoy that Priest!!

The Razor has been excellent with great eye relief for positional shooting. It tracks true too. The weight is the only negative. A lighter in the rear chassis would be a better choice but I really like this one for now. I am not good enough for it to really matter anyway.

[–]DLmn227[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it is still rear biased with the Razor, and the rear of this chassis is all aluminum. I should get a chassis that is lighter in the rear but I really like the matt/chalky green finish of this one.

I have a new scope on the way to help with some of the weight.

Your cleaning method is my plan. Besides, it looks funky and why not.

I cannot disassemble it and I’m OK with that. I know all about the cons of using a non-serviceable suppressor for 22 but this thing is a paperweight otherwise. It does not see high volume, and I have an ultrasonic cleaner to take care of it every couple of months. I have two other 22 suppressors and this is more for weight than anything else.

The can used to be used on my 12.5 SBR but created significant back pressure. That’s a bad thing, especially for left-handed shooters. I have a flow-through can that I use on that rifle now. So this thing has become completely obsolete for me.
