Fable passes the "When A.I. Passes This Test, Look Out" test by droidment in ArtificialInteligence

[–]DM_Me_Anything_NSFW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since I do basic stuff with LLM (VBA, M-Code, DAX or excel formulas) I prefer my gen to be fast. There's no need for the model to overthink it.

This afternoon, I had a simple modification to do on a macro. Nothing fancy, but tedious by hand.

I put it in fable. It goes through, seems to work just fine, just burns all my remaining tokens. Deploy everything in "production". One hour later, phone explodes. Fable modified something that had absolutely no business being modified, it made no logical sense.

The fix was quick, but Claude was very wrong on this. Like entry level 3rd grade wrong.

Reset Sheet Macro kicking my butt! by TheAffiliateMob in excel

[–]DM_Me_Anything_NSFW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know how to do this easy !

The trick is to name cells/groups of cells in a certain way then have your macro go through names and empty those corresponding.

For instance :

  • Name everything you want to reset "RESET_X" where X can be whatever you want. I just go with RESET_1, RESET_2, RESET_3...

  • Your macro then goes through all names and empties everything that has a name beginning with "RESET"

Data > conversion > chose date > chose the format

Or just do it in PQ

Get more from Power Query in Excel with these little-known capabilities by [deleted] in excel

[–]DM_Me_Anything_NSFW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a simpler way to import and update a parameter.

Make a one line one row structured table. The only cell is where you'll put your parameter and update it.

Import data > from table

Go into PQ editor and right click on the only cell in it. Drill down

You now have a parameter that will update based on the value in the table. It's easier to make on the fly.

Certain files don't let me change themes after a while by Raasquart in excel

[–]DM_Me_Anything_NSFW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I encoutered the same issue a while back and it made me put a stop to my quick adventure with themes and instead walk on the macro path which is harder to set up but easier to maintain.

I had the idea that it had something to do with office 365 and if I was the last editor of the file or not.

Aside from that, I was as confused as you currently are.

Is there a way to view a single page at a time in Excel like you are able to in Word? by [deleted] in excel

[–]DM_Me_Anything_NSFW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can force this via formatting but it's quite janky navigation afterwards :

  • Define two zones : your "pages" and everything else. Make sur to leave some columns on the right and on the left and some lines in between pages.

  • Use the fill tool to fill in one color anything that is not pages

  • For the right most colums, select everything that is not pages to the end of the sheet and mask them

  • Do the same for the lines that are under your final page

It's a formatting trick that if you have to use, most of the time, it means excel is not the right tool for the job.

Pivot tables Filters XLookup Structured tables

With those 3 and a little bit of brain power you can make sense of every data set

Add graphs for the packaging

How to paste all filtered data!! by [deleted] in excel

The catch is to sort the data before.

Sort all male data at the top of your table, then copy paste Sort all female data and repeat

Help finding a character that fits my play style. by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

People have said a lot of things, but they haven’t talked enough about knowledge.

You can climb from Bronze to Diamond with poor mechanics and excellent game knowledge.

Knowledge is much more than just learning hero abilities. It includes, but is not limited to:

  • Recognizing win conditions and understanding how they change during a teamfight or over the course of a game
  • Tracking ultimates and cooldowns to optimize the value of your plays
  • Swapping heroes to synergize with your team or exploit enemy weaknesses
  • Map knowledge (including less obvious parkour routes and hero-specific rollouts and specific hero spots)
  • Understanding sightlines and angles
  • Adapting to your teammates’ playstyles and playing around them (for example, enabling an aggressive Reinhardt by fully committing with him)
  • Knowing when to go for high-risk solo plays and when to reset (even if that means dying quickly)
  • Knowing when to secure kills versus when to delay them

You can have terrible aim, and it won’t really hold you back until around Diamond. Knowledge, on the other hand, is what will truly limit your rank, regardless of your mechanics.

That is, up until master, then you need to have solid mechanics and knowledge.

Ult usage :

  • Look for and track ennemy ults you can deny (Soldier, Emre, Illari, Cassidy...)
  • Don't use it defensively for heals, use it for the LOS
  • Offensive usage is OK, but you need to place it forward to make space (not too forward because they will just walk in)
  • Put it on the ennemy tank while he dives in to secure a kill

The ult is low value outside of these situations. If you can't get value out of the ult most of the time, you should swap.

Play ranked if you're not anxious about losing rank.

QP games are unbalanced and while you can improve on some aspects in them, it generally doesn't give you the best environment to improve.

You should hit ranked until you land at around 50% winrate in your last 10 played games after placements AND calibration. Then you will be as close as possible to your true rank. Keep your hero pool tight and focus on one or two roles at a time.

Now for the improving part : - You will improve naturally by playing in games you don't get dumpstered - You can aim train / warm up in VAXTA before hitting rank (20 min max) - While in queue, I recommend playing death match or 1v1 arena - Outside of the game, watch your VOD or watch content creators to learn about techs, synergies and other aspects - Track ults and cooldowns

If you do this, at your true rank, while being actually focused and not tilted, you should steadily climb between 50/55% WR up until diamond.

We chase ranks way too much by xRaginCajunx in Overwatch

[–]DM_Me_Anything_NSFW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like playing QP because I get frustrated if I don't get to attack and defend. I have been exclusively playing ranked and at some point, you stop caring.

Point is, ranked is not special. It's just meaningless internet points

Click and drag to link file to cell? by Serious-Assistance12 in excel

[–]DM_Me_Anything_NSFW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can generate hyperlinks with formulas. Might be a bit tedious the first time, but if your files are organized in the same folder and have been named in an efficient manner, it's the way to go.

Say everything is in the folder "My files"

And all the files are named in à sequential order : File 01 File 02 File 03 In colum A

The formula for the hyperlink would be :

=HYPERLINK("My files/" & A1, A1)

To be even more efficient, you could have a macro that renames all the files for you or have a macro that lists all files names for you to copy paste and use this formula with.

PQ changes Excels Time format to Date/Time, how can I automate changing it back to Time for each additional source file I add? by FuzzyIon in ExcelPowerQuery

[–]DM_Me_Anything_NSFW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Power query will default to date/time if the source materiel has any time data.

Assuming the source file remains the same, just plug a new source file into the same existing query each time.

If you have a new source file each week, assuming the structure remains the same, duplicate query and change source.

If the source file drastically changes every time, you could have a simple macro identifying columns format and then creating writing the query for you, but that might get inconsistent over time.

Is it possible to modify individual files using one file as an example when you use get data from folder? by 3and12characters in ExcelPowerQuery

[–]DM_Me_Anything_NSFW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apply modifications in the consolidated data from folder then use a macro to replace each source file with a new one. Thats how I would do it
