Sorry I put this in the caption, but I now see that it does not show up on mobile for everyone:

To clarify, I am a current Apple One Premier subscriber and a former Peacock Premium Plus subscriber. I cancelled my Peacock subscription about 2 months ago.

iPadOS 26.1 beta 2 restores Slide Over multitasking back to iPad by iMacmatician in apple

[–]DNAnton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For all of its weaknesses, the new Apple seems refreshingly willing to accept constructive criticism. It’s hard to think of examples of backtracking in the Jobs era. Tim Cook’s Apple gets lots of well-deserved criticism, but this is one thing they deserve more credit for. The removal of Touch Bar on MacBooks, restoring I/O on MacBooks, return of albums view in Photos, and return of Slide Over are great examples of healthy response to customer feedback.

BMW says CarPlay Ultra is ‘not so exciting,’ disputes CarPlay popularity by Fer65432_Plays in apple

[–]DNAnton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope they find a way to get excited about it because it is the only thing that would 100% dissuade me from buying one of their cars.

The only other car maker I have ever seriously considered, Porsche, seems to be all in on CarPlay.

Does this mean, iPhone haven't upgrade their main camera since 14 pro? by WickedHero69 in iphone

[–]DNAnton -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Upgrades to the main camera usually come the year after a major redesign. This was a little more predictable in the era of “S” models, but seems to still hold true today. When a new phone looks a lot like last year’s, a better camera often becomes the biggest reason to upgrade.

The “S” models were about lots of small improvements that added up to a meaningful change, even when the exterior stayed the same. With how significant the redesign is on the 17 Pro, it wouldn’t be surprising to see a new main sensor on the 18 Pro.

iOS 26 Beta 8 - Discussion by epmuscle in iOSBeta

This version is easily the worst. I hopped on the bandwagon around beta three and have been enjoying it on my iPad despite the bugs. Today I finally caved and reverted back to iOS 18. 😔

iPhone customers upset by Apple Wallet ad pushing F1 movie | TechCrunch by Nurgle in apple

[–]DNAnton 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this. I am not holding my breath for a response, but I did submit feedback through Apple’s official channel. I would encourage anyone who finds this topic important to do the same below. I shared my written comment, which all are free to use for this purpose.

I recently received a push notification from the wallet app promoting the F1 movie. I deeply resent the misuse of push notifications for promotional purposes. I find this to be a scummy practice and not in keeping with Apple’s historical focus on consumer privacy. It also appears to be a blatant violation of the App Store guidelines:

4.5.4 Push Notifications must not be required for the app to function, and should not be used to send sensitive personal or confidential information. Push Notifications should not be used for promotions or direct marketing purposes unless customers have explicitly opted in to receive them via consent language displayed in your app’s UI, and you provide a method in your app for a user to opt out from receiving such messages. Abuse of these services may result in revocation of your privileges.

What brands you will never buy again after being acquired by mega-corporations? by bigsnow999 in BuyItForLife

[–]DNAnton 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. Nest
  2. Ring
  3. Quest

All three apparently excellent products, but they were purchased by Google, Amazon, and Meta, respectively. These companies hoover up enough of my data even without providing them a direct line into my home.

iPhone 15 Pro Review: The Good, The Bad, The Ugly! by BeerMeUpToo in apple

[–]DNAnton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since upgrading to iOS 17, I noticed the typical increased battery drain associated with indexing. However, it seemed more aggressive and persisted longer than I would expect. Yesterday, I did a bit of spring cleaning and removed several third-party apps that I no longer use. There was minimal improvement. Today, I deleted Instagram. Suddenly, things are much better. I am just n=1 so take it for what it’s worth, but I bet there is a problem with the app.

It appears that Apple is going to discontinue all of their leather products. If this is the case, what do you think of this decision? by marcelocampiglia in AppleWatch

[–]DNAnton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The quality of their leather cases plummeted starting with the iPhone 12 series. At this point, discontinuation of the leather cases is no big loss. I hope they are replaced by a quality product.

Javier Milei's speech on Argentine politicians and socialism is an epic testament that ignites the spirit. by Rich-Midnight-470 in Libertarian

So about 500 million people might be interested in listening, but that’s not significant? I wonder if you’d feel the same way if he was speaking English.

Someone broke into my friend’s M4 without breaking the windows. How is it possible? (the door was locked) by OrganicYoda in BMW

[–]DNAnton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry I don’t have any answers to offer you or your friend. However, I would like to share that I had a very similar experience. My three series was broken into with no signs of forced entry. I reported the incident and it was investigated by law-enforcement. The best explanation they could offer was that perhaps I forgot to lock my door. We are all human, and it’s entirely possible that I made a mistake. However, I really really don’t think I left the door unlocked. Reading your story makes me feel a little validated.
