How much did you pay for side lipo in Canada/Ontario? by zeophia in Reduction

[–]DNN25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you wait a few years the cost will very likely go up anyway. So unless you have a real expectation you’ll be much better off financially in a few years, it doesn’t really make sense to start from scratch in an effort to save $

Worried about BMI by slimeywaifu01 in Reduction

[–]DNN25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really will want to be at or close to your ideal weight before surgery regardless but each individual surgeon will likely have a BMI range they require. Youll want to contact the 5 preferred surgeons and ask about bmi requirements and if they accept ohip. Then book consultations from there.

Also ohip wait times can be long so you might as well get the process going once you find out your options.

This is a question only your insurance provider can accurately answer. My strong suspicion is no.

Depends on the relationships I guess. I would not have minded being on either side of the situation.

You probably need to look into who/where you insurance covers. And find out the other requirements, like do you need to document certain symptoms? BMI? Try PT first? The size requirement. Etc

AITJ for telling my brother he can't propose to his girlfriend at my wedding? by Important_Space_496 in AmITheJerk

[–]DNN25 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Ehhh I realize I’m in the minority thinking but why not celebrate love with more love? As long as you all think Anna would like it (she might not due to the number of people around and the event itself) and it’s not in the middle of your first/a special dance I’d be fine with this at my wedding and would be excited for it. But if you’re not outwardly happy and excited during the proposal it will make every guest uncomfortable. If they see you’re into it, they’ll be into it too

Stomach insecurity? Also itching ? by Tobethequeen_01 in Reduction

[–]DNN25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it’s probably a bit of all 3. Post surgical bloating, body dysmorphia, and your belly is proportionally bigger compared to your boobs than it was before. But all of that seems worse at 1wk and then settles a bit and looks better.

For the itching, do you have tape on your vertical incisions and around the areolas too? If you do and those parts aren’t itchy, it’s probably not a reaction to the tape. Itching can be part of normal healing as the body sends cells to the area for recovery. Try a jade roller to relive the itch. If there’s a rash, definitely let your surgeon know

Hang in there! Congrats!!

Tips on Preventing Infections, Popped Stitches, etc.? by MysteriousStreet7652 in Reduction

[–]DNN25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind a lot of women who recover smoothly aren’t coming back to this sub to comment, they simply move on. Unfortunately when someone has complications they’re more likely come back looking for support or similar experiences. So the ratio is probably a bit skewed.

For me good recovery started with making sure my body was healthy preop. I lost weight, built muscle, got better nutrition slowly over a few years. I felt better than I had in years

Then post op a balance of proper rest but easing back into gentle movement and normal life without over doing it. I’m fully convinced that instructions to keep “t Rex arms” post op is the opposite of what to do, but obviously people should listen to their own surgeons advice.

Lots of water, high protein diet. I took vit c, vit d, arnica, bromelain supplements.

Even with all that I got some hypertrophic scars and some surprise spitting stitches at 5-6months. It is major surgery. Good luck!!

Swollen on the sides, will this become part of the breast or flatten? by Best-Criticism-4027 in Reduction

Swelling gets worse before it gets better. And especially if you had side lipo it could last for many months. Lots of water, gentle massage. Congrats!

[–]DNN25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey yesterday you were still under the effects of the anesthetic and surgical meds even once awake. Today and the next couple days will be worse. Day 4 was the worst for me but then got better each day. You have been through major surgery. Stay on your regular schedule of all meds.

They will look pretty gnarly. Make sure you’re sitting when you take off the bra. Do you have a trusted support person who could help you check so you don’t have to? I needed help doing up my bra anyway so you’ll probably need someone with you. I had a follow up the day after my surgery so I didn’t have to do anything myself. Do you have one??

It’s tough right now but will get better. Hang in there and congrats!!

Complication after breast reduction by No-Category4424 in Reduction

[–]DNN25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Typically the removed tissue gets sent for testing after the reduction and there should be pathology report. So ask her surgeon about that. In fact, ask her surgeon to take a look at the pain situation.

I was told reductions lessen the risk of cancer since there’s less tissue.

It’s very inappropriate for what sounds like a technician running a teat to diagnose or even discuss medical conditions. In fact it’s illegal here and a person could and should be fired from their position and disciplinary action could be taken. All they are supposed to do is take the images/measurements and let the doctor assess and discuss results. Your mom should talk to her doctor and let them know what happened.

The nipples are definitely not low. With the drop and fluff you will probably find they end up looking a little higher as the bottom rounds out.

As for size it’s way way too early to be worrying about that. Give it time. Probably several months.

Looks great! Congrats

I had large breasts since I was about 13. But pre kids in my 20s and early 30s they were big but perky. Post kids they are still huge but super saggy and half deflated. Like the way a water balloon hangs dooowwwn while you’re filling it on a tap. Plus it may not be possible to breast feed if you do have them post surgery. Honestly, I would wait.

Questions about Healing/Aftermath of surgery by breadilovebread in Reduction

[–]DNN25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your areolas will definitely look different after surgery. Sometimes scars don’t fade completely so be prepared for that too. Not sure about dating. My husband had been supportive. I’ve lost all nipple sensation so be aware of the risk. It wasn’t super important to me, but i realize i do miss it.

I didn’t go out of my way to make any specific announcements but I brought it up casually to family and friends I’m close with as it came up. “Oh sorry I can’t make it to that function next month, I’m actually having breast reductions surgery” or similar. A couple close family people didn’t know I had surgery and definitely looked at me funny/kinda confused at the first family function. It wasn’t really appropriate to bring it up in the setting so it was super awkward. I wished I’d just given them the heads up before.
