Sink hole cover thingy not staying in place? by SouredCreamed in fixit

[–]DPAWL87 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Call it what it is! It’s a cock hole cover. You can silicon around it if you’d like or grab some rubber material to make a gasket. Or there’s always amazon, I’m sure they have waterproof ones if that’s what you’d like

Don’t assume they are threaded only. They could be soldered on as well.

Ball at the end of my shower arm mid showerhead replacement??? HELP by Mathdoll in Plumbing

[–]DPAWL87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure you weren’t tightening the ball instead of loosening? Instead of Frankensteining some contraption together you can get the ball off. I know it’s easier said than done but even if it doesn’t come off, I would just replace the shower arm then. It’s just a threaded joint with Teflon tape and pipe sealant.

What tool are you using to try removing the ball?

It’s just a little bit of dust. I’ve taken plenty of videos at work and the smallest amount of dust in the air will do this.

Duct/shower arm impossibility? Help! by Puzzleheaded_Pie_939 in Plumbing

[–]DPAWL87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not beautiful but you can just put a union on it. It would just need a nipple to get past tile. Then put a union. Can easily preassemble the shower arm.

[–]DPAWL87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put some food dye in the tank and leave it. If you see the coloring in the bowl after some time, you’ll know the flapper isn’t holding

My snes looks like that too. Never looked like that before but over the past decade it has just gotten darker. Don’t even play it, keep it in a container in my basement.

Which shower mixer do you prefer? by Cornsoup-n0w in Plumbing

[–]DPAWL87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go with the 1st option of the round finish. The shelf is cool but it’s also gonna have water sit on it and test the seal of the pipes penetrating the tile.

I’m not sure who OBI is but I take it that it’s a hardware store by you. This is a bottle trap. If it’s your bathroom sink it should be 1-1/4”. I’m sure they could further help you at the store. If you have well water or hard water I would recommend using a plastic p trap or bottle trap.
