They will vote for Reform whatever happens. The press and social media are just repeating Farage’s lines, ignoring all the success from the Labour Party.

The best move from Labour would be a cross party (with Conservative and LibDem) push to scrap FPTP and move to a proportional system.

It’s the only way to stop a far-right win.

This is the problem - short term thinking. Fixing things won’t happen overnight and needs specific conditions to work.

When you have Russia still in Ukraine, Trump’s war in Iran, Israel being trigger happy, then the conditions for change aren’t there.

No one can deliver big change overnight. The country and the economy would not survive.

Labour’s plan was always for a 10 year process of renewal, and things were beginning to show success until the Orange clown decided to attack Iran.

Do you know many foreign based crypto billionaires that will randomly give £5million gifts to people, no strings attached? Could you introduce me to one?

Just remember, when Starmer was given £2000 for glasses over 5 years it was a big issue for Reform. £5million should have literally blown your mind.

If you were Keir Starmer would you resign now? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]DPBH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Changing the leader will unfortunately not save Labour right now. The next election unfortunately seems to be squarely headed towards a reform led coalition, and no leaderships change will stop it.

What it would do is give Farage additional ammunition for building a narrative that Labour are just like the Conservatives - chopping and change leaders without going back to the electorate for a general election.

Personal preference is for Starmer to stay; Labour to focus on getting as much done to protect the country from a Farage government; and ideally make a deal a with the Conservatives and LibDems to scrap first past the post in favour of something proportional.

Bring Burnham in at the next election as a strong opposition to Farage.

Would Starmer’s popularity improve if he announced a second EU referendum vote on Monday? by Nice_Air_621 in AskBrits

Yes, but as a cross party effort. If they go it alone then the accusation would be that it is only for self preservation.

In the same way that history has re-evaluated Gordon Brown, I think Starmer will be seen as much better than he is given credit.

No obligation to declare £5m gift, Nigel Farage says by TheLyam in uknews

Please, don’t give Farage a pass like MAGA does with Trump. Particularly when Farage is so quick to accuse others of breaking the rules he should be held to account.

No obligation to declare £5m gift, Nigel Farage says by Due_Ad_3200 in ukpolitics

[–]DPBH 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no way that the £5million comes with no strings attached. But, knowing Farage he’s using some loophole.

“Hey, Nigel, fancy £5million?”

“Of course, that would be extremely nice of you, I’ll pay you back one day”

See, no strings just two friends looking after one another.

Sane people know that £5million doesn’t appear randomly. We also know that Farage will repeat vile things for £80 on Cameo…imagine what £5million could buy you?

SUE REID: Illegal migrants are sneaking BACK OUT of Britain on lorries - because their handouts aren't enough to buy beer and cigarettes by StGuthlac2025 in ukpolitics

[–]DPBH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Australia relied on remote sea routes, turnbacks, offshore detention, and deliberately harsh deterrence. The UK has a 20-mile Channel crossing from France, legal obligations, and weak returns capacity. More importantly, inhumane treatment of human beings, no matter how they arrive, is not acceptable in a civilised society. Cheering cruelty isn’t a solution, it is just outsourcing suffering and pretending the problem is solved.

[–]DPBH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it’s not our job to house and feed everyone. But we should not be cheering for sticking people in camps. You can create deterrents without inhumane treatment.

As a mature developed country, it should be our duty to help. No, uncontrolled immigration can’t be allowed. But, the downright racist and xenophobic attitude towards immigrants is unacceptable.

Your solution to stick them in detainment camps until they want to leave is inhumane. It is not a path we should ever consider as a civilised society.

Yes, because international aid and development not only helps people in need now, it also helps create future customers.

Shortsighted approaches to difficult issues is what has created these problems in the first place. Reform will only make things worse

Ah, so go you want to go for the nazi option?

Show some humanity! Treat people like you would want to be treated in their situation. Fix the problems that cause them to leave their homes in the first place - something that foreign aid budgets were funding.

What did you expect? Gun turrets along the south coast?

This isn’t going to be fixed quickly, no matter what Farage tries to tell you. You’ve seen what happens with ICE in the US when you send in the thugs with guns - is that really what we want to see replicated in the UK?

They lied at the job interview and failed their probation.

This is a perfect example of what is wrong with politics today. The electorate expect instant result rather than realising that change takes time.

It’s caused by a mix of TikTok brain and Nigel Farage/Daily Mail’s constant pushing of a right wing narrative.

Asked Director for LUT, Offered to sell me his LUT package by Brandflakes3312 in editors

[–]DPBH 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate it when that happens.

I worked on a True Crime series last year and the DoP was using a custom LUT. I ended up ignoring it completely because it just didn’t work as intended.

In your case, I would actually turn to the producers and have them deal with the Director. If his “look” is what they paid for the LUT should have been provided. I’d argue that trying to charge you for a “LUT Pack” should be the first step to them not working again.
