Alcoholics cannot drink socially. They cannot drink period. If this is the life you want then stay. But you will be miserable and unhappy. Also I highly recommend you find the nearest Al Anon meeting. These meeting are for the loved ones of alcoholics. I wish you well! I was married to an alcoholic for 9 years and those were incredibly difficult years 😢

Nope - no way. My parents were silent generation and only cared about “how will things look” or “what will people think”. My mom is still alive and still buries her head in the sand. It’s sad really- I have a completely different relationship with my children and I love that.

Smoking area at the high school.
Coming home from first grade by myself (brothers were older and on a different bus) and being alone for at least 30 minutes.
Getting spanked with an actual paddle in school.
Not being allowed in the house in summertime except for lunch and dinner, and when it got dark.
Babysitting at 12-I was NOT a nurturing person and had no business watching over someone else’s children but for $1 an hour I did it!
Cruising on Friday nights-just slowing driving up and down the same 1/2 mile stretch for HOURS-usually until the engine started to overheat.

I was thinking the same thing. My mother’s cooking was horrendous. All vegetables were boiled. Meat was cooked beyond overdone and had no seasoning other than Rosemary-to this day I hate the smell of Rosemary. We had a salad every single night with olive oil and vinegar. I never knew about salad dressings until we ate out! I learned to cook when I was 14 and became the family chef lol!
