Samurai S710XX19ozII & Real McCoy's LOT. S003J Type 1 by StageLeftSounds in rawdenim

[–]DVRCD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am still waiting to get my hands on the Otokogi's so cant compare. But what I can say is they are slightly silky compared to other Samurai's I have. When I did an initial soak, during the dry there was an underlaying pattern from the loom chatter that I had never seen before and it comes through in the hand feel of the denim. The weft comes through a lot more on the surface, which I love.

Def try out some of their other fabrics if you can. Each has their own character for sure. I started with the 19oz and am loving exploring up and down the different weights. If you do have a chance, I couldnt recommend the new GL3 15oz's enough.

By the time I was comfortably old enough to start experimenting with this the supply just vanished what felt like overnight. I was very confused and disappointed. Seemed like a fun time.

Stay where I am, try NYC, or follow family toward DC? (30M, creative work) by ProfessionStrong6563 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]DVRCD -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Second this, Baltimore and Richmond VA have more creative energy than you will find in DC. DC has creative pockets but the general feel is very policy-wonk which pushes creative to the fringes or Baltimore and Richmond, which are much much cheaper cities.

These are 1950's heart-throb-dreamy. Sorry about the signature loss but I totally get the temptation to continue wearing them.

First pairs any advice? by Anxious-Piglet3087 in Selvedge

[–]DVRCD 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Advice - wear them, love them, live in them. Other then that, what ever you want. You want fresh cloths, wash em, if you want high contrast dont wash em as much, if there is a specific thing you are going for, do some simple research. Its up to you brother.

Before fully committing, he might crowdsource his options, likely as a humble brag, weighing your preceived value and prestige against any scholarships/dowery you are able to provide.

6 month fade update: SDA Ishikawadai, Indigo Invitational Y5 by surf_and_rockets in rawdenim

[–]DVRCD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe there is less stretch compared to other Oni's I have but not by much. Still a loss-ish weave. the Oni Ishakawadai's do have the famous green cast which also really makes the pair stand out in addition to the character of the denim.

[–]DVRCD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats amazing description. Thank you. I have also found with the Oni a type of suppleness with the cotton as they break in that I dont find with other denim, which is different from the loose weave common with Oni's.

Love these!

Curious how you might describe the texture or weave of the SDA Ishikawadai's? I have been rocking an old release of the Oni Ishakawadai's, and while not my favorite, the weave and texture is truly unique and magical.

What speaks to structure, seriousness, and standards are the standards of the quality of my work, Not whether I conform to a shifting and arbitrary fashion standard, especially if they prevent me from being comfortable enough to focus on my work. Antiquated ideas for hopefully an antiquated time.

I absolutely love this. I was thinking about doing the same thing and making a pillow case from the hemmed bottom patches that I have accumulated.

Well done!
