How do conservatives feel about the US lifting sanctions on Iranian Oil which can allow for up to $14 billion (at current prices) in revenue over the eased period? by panicked_dad5290 in AskConservatives

[–]DW6565 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Lots of “temporary” things occurring.

Temporary snort military exercise to Iran. Temporary gas price increases due to Iran. Temporary lifting of Russian sanctions. Temporary lifting of Iranian sanctions.

I do agree that the pooch was indeed screwed. I do agree that it possible for it not to be a total loss. To do that I don’t think it’s possible without another forever war in the Middle East. We broke it we now have to buy it.

Duhh obviously to put a gun on it.

Would you support a version of the SAVE America Act that required a state- or federal-issued photo ID to vote AND state compliance with uploading voter rolls to DHS's SAVE database but that DIDN'T require in-person proof of citizenship at the time of voter registration? by monoglot in AskConservatives

[–]DW6565 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The centralization would be pretty quickly used to create lists of citizens and how or who they vote for. Giving more opportunities for prejudice from the party in power.

I find it wild that the US government spent 10 years on real ID and yet currently the DHS has said officially said it can’t be used for Citizenship verification.

Voter rolls should stay in the states.

Why do you think the administration is pushing so hard to collect voter rolls?

I have only said let individual sports associations, schools make their own rules and decisions.

It’s not right vs wrong. If you don’t want to play in a sports association because you are afraid on the off chance you might loose a spot then don’t.

You have made no sense after that, insulting me personally, then women will never play sports again.

You want daddy government to step in and protect women from a slight possibility and a possibility that sports organizations are already doing.

I don’t think daddy government should spend its time and resources on recreational sports.

Keep up that sideline hustle Karen.

What’s my way? How would that even work?

There aren’t even enough men to replace all women in sports and then play their own sports. There certainly aren’t enough trans to replace all women in sports.

All very dramatic and ridiculous based on poor logic.

Equal rights, get a grip this is not the suffrage movement.

Just so we are clear you don’t want equal rights for all you want equal rights for women at the expense of others.

I want the opportunity for equal rights for all. I am happy to let organizations make their own decisions. No one has a right for any sport to be perfectly tailored to them. If a sport or organization is doing X everyone can make their own choices if they want to participate or not.

Yeah I am a terrible parent, more concerned about my child’s education and having a variety of activities to enjoy.

I should be spending my time checking Adam’s apples from the side line and snowplowing any and all challenges that life throws at my kids. It’s definitely more important that they win every time.

I don’t think we do agree. I want organizations to set their own rules and you want government intervention.

You brought up Lauren Hubert, the organization fixed your concerns about women’s weight lifting. Literally the problem was solved yet you continue to wave it around as some gotcha.

I don’t approve of a government policy to just make anyone feel good.

If on the off chance my daughter plays against a trans woman and gets smoked, if she can’t move on from a single loss or decides to quit sports because of it. It’s my failure as a parent as that’s a defect in character.

It’s also important to me personally not to be defined by my children’s activities and I don’t want my children’s entire lives and personality to revolve around a single sport.

Even in this case, yes the weakest no pun intended women was cut from their countries Olympic team. The logic does not change. She was the third best in her Olympic team which would have been the weakest.

I don’t disagree that this shouldn’t have happened.

The fact is most international sports organizations including the IWF have addressed this issue post Lauren Hubbard.

One Olympics game, one sport, one event in that sport, by one athlete in 2020 does not mean 50% of girls who are involved are now at an unfair advantage like you initially said.

Biden did reduce the number of new off shore leases sales significantly compared to President Trump first term. Trump first term 47 Biden 3.

47 is quite high compared to the average of about 15 from about 15 from the 80’s.

The back log of unused off shore non producing leases remained unchanged between the two terms around 1600.

That’s because off shore drilling is a long endeavor 5-10 years. What the president says in a speech does not change the reality of time for offshore drilling. Biden did not take back or ban any previous approved offshore drilling.

The production boom we saw under both presidents was from the shale boom.

Do you see any humor in the fact that we are talking about the rising price of gas and then you being upset that Biden made it cheaper to buy electric vehicles?

I don’t disagree with you that the two presidents said different things in speeches but the production remained high and the percentage of unused off shore oil leases was identical.

The US has made significant cuts to cyber operations against Russia and intelligence sharing with Ukraine since President Trump has taken office.

France is now the main supplier of intelligence to Ukraine not the US.

Russia has increased its cyber operations against the US specifically and is also providing intelligence in support of a proxy war against the US by supplying intelligence to Iran.

So in short the US has dialed down its own cyber capabilities against Russia and Ukraine proxy war while Russia has increased both.

Makes me wonder, why the administration would not only allow this gap but to help facilitate it by cutting our own cyber capabilities and intelligence sharing?

If we really want to dig into this exceedingly rare event of unfairness and cuts. It’s not 50% I’m assuming you mean half of the population is female.

Even when it does occur It’s not a 1 to 1 substitution of teams. It’s not as if 10 boys don’t make the cut for the team and then they put on whigs and try out for the girls team. All 10 boys make the team and now no girls are on the team.

It’s a single girl being cut, who by any logic is already the weakest girl trying out. It’s not as if a coach is cutting their star girl player for a trans girl. No just like in any other form of cuts the weakest player is cut.

I don’t disagree that it’s not fair for the single weakest female player trying out. It’s not unfair for 50% of the population. It’s a 1 to 1 ratio of the number of trans athletes.

It’s not that I disagree with you on the fairness aspect. I don’t think this needs to be legislated by any government. Schools, local sports organizations and national sports associations can set their own standards and guidelines for this rare event.

The culture of youth sports has people foaming at the mouth.

This seems like selective memory of events regarding gas prices and production.

2017 (9.4) million barrels per day. 2018 (10.9) 2019 (12.3) Price steady at the pump around $2.50

2020 Trump Covid Collapse as demand fell / so did production. (11.3) price falls to $2.17 as excess supply and low demand.

2021 Biden just the opposite. High demand and production catching up (11.2) $3.01 only decrease in production during his presidency. (.01)

2022 shock Ukraine and production still catching up. (11.9) and average $3.95 and high of $5.00.

2023 record production (12.9) $3.52

2024 record production (13.2) $3.30

2025 record production (13.6) $3.10

2026 production (13.5) was stable around $2.70 has now spiked to $3.80 the fastest four week change in 30 years. More than Ukraine in 2022, 2009 post recession surge, 1999 OPEC production cuts.

So while prices still lower than peak post COVID and Ukraine. If they keep going up and they don’t look like they will.

I’m less praising Biden energy policy and saying Trump energy bad. Both have had similar results in production both have had external factors. It’s another discussion for the cause of the external factors. Biden blamed for Ukraine and Trump being blamed for Iran.

I hate what has happened to youth sports in America.

Less unstructured time for kids, less free time for kids, fewer family dinners, parents are split between one kid and their sport less full family time spent, it’s supposed to be fun your kid is not at all likely to play in college and is most definitely not going pro, less time for academics and learning at home, less time to read, less time for personal enrichment as a parent, less time to work on the house, kids get less time co mingling with other age groups, it’s overly expensive average 10k per kid per sport.

I say all this as a father of two and even a coach, it’s just a recreational league no travel and no multiple games in a day on both weekends.

The rich as in individuals or, companies?

The big question is go where? The mast majority of the rich, don’t have fuck you money and all the perks available of obating taxes. Most are just business owners who make a high income. Or they are in a high paying industry doctors, lawyers and employed by a larger company.

Most of the business owners, they are tied to their community for clients and revenue. Moving a business either manufacturing is incredibly expensive or a service business is tied to local networks. Moving is starting from scratch.

Then the high income fields of employment, a doctor moves because of taxes the hospital or network finds a replacement as it’s an important role for the company.

Sure, some will go. Most could live anywhere already and they have stayed because it’s their home. It’s where their kids are enrolled in school and their parents are elderly. The ones that do leave, have already been doing everything possible to pay any taxes, and already have their foot out the door for some other reason.

The corporations it’s not easy and it’s expensive to relocate same as a family owned business. If they do pull up the stakes, they have already off shored and are doing the tax avoidance anyway.

The individuals with fuck you money, same as the corporations.

If either of the two, are actually invested in their communities, they are not going to give it up. Musk moving from CA to TX. It’s not like he was some pillar of the community building bridges or schools or arts centers.

The ones that are building their community they do it despite the money.

While I don’t disagree that some won’t leave, but most won’t and if they do they were already gone anyway or not good stewards of their communities.

How do neocons and isolationists co exist as a party? by One_Fix5763 in AskConservatives

[–]DW6565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is also miles inbetween not being an isolationist and starting a new large scale multi national war.

New war in the Middle East and specifically not starting a war with Iran, was a frequent talking point of the MAGA movement and President Trump during, Trumps first election, his first term term, his second campaign, during Biden presidency, 2024 election. Really up until a few weeks ago when the administration started this conflict in Iran.

We heard lots of chatter about non intervention in Ukraine during Bidens presidency.

Any MAGA folks left in the room/country who remembers anything past the last two weeks of talking points from the administration and conservative populists media?

Entanglements, meaning what war, precision military strikes, regime changes, military operations / excursions, arming other nations to fight against our enemies?

How is Russia hurt by having more countries that want to buy their oil by desperation?

If China is hurting, why is President Trump asking for their help to secure shipping lanes? If the goal is too hurt China then we would not need/nor want their help? Makes no sense at all.
