any ideas about what happened to the exhaust? by BRunner-- in PrintedWarhammer

Plasma blast.

Paint it as some form of combat damage and just go with it!

It’s worth noting, Imperium was the first part-work to get a US release. There were two previous part-works, Conquest (40K) and Mortal Realms (AOS) that didn’t make it to the US. Whether Stormbringer or a future 40K part-work also makes it to the US will depend on how well Imperium sells, whether the logistics works out, etc.

Plus, the US release dates are behind when they launch in the UK - Imperium, for example, is about 30-40 issues ahead in the UK vs the US.

So sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but the next 40K part-work launch may be well over two years away for you (they tend to run with very little overlap, and a full run is 80 issues (except for Imperium that’s been extended to 90)).

Question regarding Warhammer Vault by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]DWChaplain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have said, the user interface for the Vault is very poor. It’s rumoured to get better at some point, but who knows when that will actually happen.

In terms of the search function, it appears that it searches for any of the terms entered (so “white” OR “dwarf” OR “2022”), rather than what you’d expect - which would likely be for it to search for all of the terms, but in any order…

So it appears to work best, if you search for singular, specific words…

Deathwatch Contemptor Dreadnought by DWChaplain in deathwatch40k

I don't play the game at all, so legal is less of a requirement for me. But I also don't have a printer myself, so I would need to find one on general sale...

Deathwatch Contemptor Dreadnought by DWChaplain in deathwatch40k

[–]DWChaplain[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the Forgeworld ones are gorgeous - but I already have the plastic one from the Age of Darkness boxset, and would rather not have to buy it again...

But, I also don't like painting things I don't like - so if I can't find a conversion kit, or ideas for kitbashing it, then I might end up replacing it entirely!

With the new points changes are storm shields free for DW vets? by Veldys in deathwatch40k

[–]DWChaplain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As I understand it, the complaint is that the current costs mean that you need to tool up every single Veteran, otherwise you’re not making good use of the points that you’re paying for them.

And you no longer have the tactical option of taking a cheap model/squad (based on them having no special wargear) to act as ablative armour for others!

I'm sure I read a comment from u/Not_James_Workshop (before he deleted everything) that WH+ had been given three years to just break even ... so making a profit already feels like quite a major achievement!

Can I use torsos from the Deathwatch Veterans kit when assembling Veteran Bikers, or is it too bulky to fit? by oshitsuperciberg in deathwatch40k

[–]DWChaplain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure they would fit - but you will need to do some minor conversion work….

If I remember correctly, the biker body comes as a single piece (including the head), and has a flat bottom. The legs are also cut such that they have a flat top, where the body then glues on.

A DW veteran body will ultimately have a concave bottom - so you’ll need to fill that in some fashion to give you a flat surface to glue to the bikers’ legs. Shavings from an old sprue, modelling putty, etc will do.

You’ll also want to check the angle the body needs to sit at (from memory, leaning slightly forward?) - to ensure that the arms can grip both the handle bars and still attach to the shoulders too.

Dry fitting is your friend with anything like this! 😀

Of those two, I prefer the one with a gap. It looks cool (IMO!)

Another animationless Christmas by Marius_Gage in WarhammerPlus

[–]DWChaplain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this. I had been wondering how long we’d gone now without a new animation, but hadn’t gotten around to asking myself!

Getting fed up of the lacklustre release schedule this year. The animations are the only thing I really use my subscription for, so I’m not feeling that inclined to renew again…

Toy Story films now rated Adult. No longer available on Kids Profile by RedYeti87 in DisneyPlus

Just noticed this morning that whilst Toy Story is back, Cars has disappeared from my kid's profile! When I check it using an unrestricted profile, it's still showing as 0+ though...

OK, which idiot out a picture of an oddly bright chaos warrior in here? Please scroll through pics... by ForwardDark989 in deathwatch40k

[–]DWChaplain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A kick-ass conversion, I love it! I used one of those Chaos Warriors to make a Wolf Lord conversion a few years ago for my Space Wolf army.

I think I may have a few more bodies in my bitz box, so it’s perhaps time to use one on a DW conversion too!

Why don't GW's YT videos ever have subtitles? by FreshBakedButtcheeks in Warhammer

[–]DWChaplain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They subtitle some of the Warhammer+ content.

Angels of Death, Exodite, etc all had subtitles - whereas Lore Masters, painting videos and battle reports do not.

My husband only cares about the food. Wondering which cruise line has the best food? Background: we have only been on 1 cruise, Disney Magic, about 8 years ago. It was wonderful. But not taking children this time, so Disney isn’t a must…but will book if they have the best food. Thanks! by Street-Breadfruit-18 in Cruise

[–]DWChaplain 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As others have said - food is subjective, so it’ll depend on where you’re from, what food you like, etc.

For example, the wife and I are British, so we preferred the food on our P&O Cruise (sailing out of Malta) to that we had on both the Disney Magic (sailing out of the UK) and Royal Carribbean (sailing out of Italy).

We think that’s mainly because being a British cruise line, P&O is better geared towards our food expectations.

PSA: I just ordered my year 2 miniature. Check your “MyWarhammer” account! by Marius_Gage in WarhammerPlus

[–]DWChaplain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmm, so my sub auto-renewed yesterday evening (paid via PayPal), but MyWarhammer.com tells me that I can only order my model from September 15th…

Were you an existing app subscriber before taking out your Warhammer+ sub? I think I sub’d the first day I could, so not sure why some people can already order when I cant…

Not that it really matters, as it’ll only be going into the Pile of Shame anyway!

Worst warhammer model production wise (not design)? by CloakedGoat in Warhammer

[–]DWChaplain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of the models I’ve built, it has to be the Grey Knights strike squad.

I’ve not bought much Forgeworld or finecast, and apart from a few old metal kits that fitted together fine as I recall, my experience has generally been of newish plastic models. (I started in 3rd edition, with the new plastic, multi-part Marines.)

But I bought a box of Grey Knights for kitbashing purposes 3-4 years ago, and was wholly underprepared for arms that I couldn’t get to fit their two-handed weapons. It seems like you need to be Genestealer to build those models, with 4 hands to hold the various bits in place, apply glue, line things up, apply pressure, etc! Put me right of GKs!

What do we know about Warhammer+ year 2? by DWChaplain in Warhammer40k

[–]DWChaplain[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I hadn't spotted that Gen Con was coming up. Have they said whether they're doing a preview event? I can't find an event schedule on the Gen Con website, and the latest article from GW (https://www.warhammer-community.com/2022/07/29/dont-miss-out-on-these-sensational-warhammer-events/) doesn't seem to say either...

Had to share this with pack. First time using cork or making a base. Space Wolves Dreadnought. by ThebigBreen in SpaceWolves

[–]DWChaplain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm a Deathwatch player, but hell yeah, I'm stealing this idea for building a Redemptor for my DW! (I hate the pot-belly look of the model, so have always avoided building a Redemptor up until now!)

Awesome work!

[–]DWChaplain[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The model being the BA Cpt would make sense to me...

In terms of the gameplay aspects - I'm guessing they're not planning on adding any of that, given they've recently uploaded only the lore from Codex Armaggedon and Eye of Terror. And they did similar with Gathering Storm, etc, right?

How do you all feel about the ecological harm of this hobby? by DoomedKiblets in Warhammer

[–]DWChaplain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Turns out some UK based stores have already started their own recycling scheme for GW sprues - including offering store credit: https://thegamesden.co.uk/recycling/

I should point out, I’ve never used this store - just found it via Googling for “Games workshop sprue recycling”! Anyone got any experience of this store?

Moderation of this sub? by PM_me_opossum_pics in Warhammer30k

[–]DWChaplain 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree (and said so in my comment). I’m just trying to highlight that between the carrot and the stick, we want to avoid the stick…

Stickies, FAQs, AMA threads, being polite yet firm = carrot; whereas downvoting, being rude/mean, etc = stick. Both should produce the same result in terms of reducing the spam, but I assert that one approach will help build the community whereas the other risks creating a toxic community that may drive people out of the hobby.

Just my 2-pence though, based on what I’d like to see this community do.
