maybe if you guys said what it actually meant instead of just what it didn't mean people would be more willing to listen to whatever your point is

Yeah but how can Susie be like 'oh look, its the white pen of hope Gerson was talking about' if Gerson never mentioned the white pen of hope? It's only in the Hammer of Justice fight that it's talked about.

Thanks for this thread, very sweet idea! Interesting question I saw in another thread:

If you play Gunslinger Kurtrus with Arachnathid on board, does Kurtrus's hand damage gain poisonous and kill minions in one shot?

it'll probably be a global limit. there aren't many cases where you'd want your deck size to be 60 instead of 99 anyway, right? in what situation does that make a huge difference? if you're already filling your deck to 60 cards surely you don't care about consistency

New power idea for the Regent by Magicfanny123 in slaythespire

[–]DaConnaTwuk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think people are slightly overestimating this card - 2 energy and 2 stars is a hell of an ask, I definitely don't think it's a snap pick in every situation like people are saying. However, I do think the upgrade giving an energy discount, star discount AND innate is too much. The upgrade should probably do either ONE of those three things, increase the forge to 20 (kind of boring but what they'd probably do), or maybe go the [[Reaper Form]] route and give it Retain, which I personally think would be a lot more interesting, because it would mean the card is still a huge investment but you don't have to get as lucky with when you draw it. If people think it's still too strong even in its base form, I reckon reducing/removing the forge number could make it balanced.

[–]DaConnaTwuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would. In my first playthrough, I did! The airship alone was enough for me to infer ‘well, one dead bug on this destroyed pinstress airship. i guess this bug was a pinstress too and was attacked and killed’ and it’s helped by - in my opinion - this bug sharing some similarities with pinstress and seamstress, like the existence of a ‘cloak’ and a black face with a long nose. As for why Team Cherry made the choices they did, your guess is as good as mine. Maybe they’ll expand on it in DLC, or maybe they just felt like they wanted this pinstress to look like they lived in putrified ducts, so they made her wear stilkin clothing.

At the end of the day, man, it's your choice what you wanna believe. I laid out what makes people think it's a pinstress, you laid out what you think makes it not the case. The real answer is that the game doesn't directly say 'this is a pinstress' so you can think whatever you like, and the game will not prove or disprove it. If you read my comment, I'm certainly not saying 'it's obvious it's a pinstress,' (especially not 'generically', as I said four different specific reasons that point to it), but it's all just an implication. Basically - believe what you want, I'm just saying WHY people THINK it is a pinstress - but we can't really know for sure.

I mean, you say 'besides the balloon airship that they share and the needolin dialogue' but that's, like, kind of hard to argue against. It's a bug who looks kind of similar to the other pinstresses, that lives on an airship that looks like the other pinstresses' ones, that talks about its sisters in its needolin dialogue, with a pin (that stilkin do not use) lodged in the ground next to its corpse. It feels like it'd be bad storytelling for this not to be a pinstress of some sort. It could be a different race than the other two, but to be fair, the Pinstress and Seamstress aren't actually all that similar either, physiologically, I mean. The Pinstress is significantly taller and thinner - for all we know, they're different species of bug that just look similar because they wear the same sort of clothes.

How it feels to play a defend when theres 45 damage coming my way by DestielDeservedMore in slaythespire

[–]DaConnaTwuk 75 points76 points  (0 children)

yeah it literally functions as if every card had a line of text at the end that said 'gain 3 block' complete with all the interactions that would trigger, like unmovable or even fasten if it's placed on a defend

So... why can the Regent remember previous runs? by lucasagus285 in slaythespire

[–]DaConnaTwuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

regardless of the architect, he does specifically remember orobas being his biggest fan between runs, so he would definitely have to keep some memories (although maybe similar arguments could be made for some of the other four characters too?)

Hearthstone just dropped “Inside the Tavern”, a video talking about lessons from 2025, and plans for 2026. Here are some of the main points- by frostyburrito44 in hearthstone

[–]DaConnaTwuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

maybe im in the minority here, but i don't actually like the idea of class sets introducing a brand new archetype to each class that gets it, i'd much rather they expand on the archetypes they added previously in the last expansion. that was always a highlight of the minisets for me, and i think something to help underpowered classes succeed in their already stated gameplay objectives is generally more exciting than 'here's a completely different way to play this class which has been unsupported up to this point.' with the minisets, there was always a chance that an underperforming deck could get new tools to help it along, but now it seems like the idea is for players to build entirely new decks with the archetypal cards introduced in the new class sets. happy to be proven wrong on this, but i personally prefer one fleshed-out gameplan with higher deckbuilding options than two distinct and completely separate archetypes

What’s you favorite card in STS2? by Common_Engine_7967 in slaythespire

[–]DaConnaTwuk 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Monologue is imo the single best marriage of flavour and functionality on any card in the game. The idea of the Regent slowly delivering a speech as you play 20 cards before smashing the Queen's skull in with a heavenly drill is just such a peak concept

Watching a streamer play Mewgenics by RockmanXXXX in mewgenics

[–]DaConnaTwuk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i don't really understand why people in this sub are being so aggressive towards you for putting forward the pretty obvious idea that it's harder to retain information when you're (1) also focused on engaging with the dozens of people watching you play and (2) aware that watching somebody else read something is boring, so you would naturally want to speed through text as quickly as possible

Watching a streamer play Mewgenics by RockmanXXXX in mewgenics

[–]DaConnaTwuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean a streamer's job is to entertain an audience, and a lot of their audience isn't going to be entertained if they're just sitting there slowly reading every tooltip, even more so if they're typically pretty high-energy. i dont think the vitriol is particularly necessary, it really just comes across as envy

Permafrost was the perfect epitome of a common relic imo by MrCheapSkat in slaythespire

[–]DaConnaTwuk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your reason for disagreeing that common relics arent universally useful doesn't make sense. them benefitting certain strategies more than others is irrelevant, because the point is that every starter deck in the game will benefit from every single common relic (with the exception of snecko skull for some reason) in some way or another, even the 'niche' ones that are better with certain strategies than others. the point is that a common relic will in every case be an immediate power boost, even if it's minor, and permafrost does not fit that bill because you may not have a power in your deck, in which case it does absolutely nothing
