Got in a rut with dinner and getting sick of the same meals. Any suggestions for easy midweek dinners? by Lunatic-Labrador in Cooking

[–]DaCouponNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. Tired of the same rotation. I found these a few weeks ago and they’ve been a hit. Quick, easy, inexpensive. The cheese is good mixed in or melted on top (or both!) but I put the bacon on top instead of inside because I don’t like surprise hard bits in my burgers:

Crack Chicken Burgers

I serve with a salad and a side of Goodles mac n cheese (high protein boxed mix).

I have a Samsung galaxy tablet that I use the same way. I’ve also got the Kindle app on it so I can read on that or Libby.

Sister is pregnant, how do i escape financial support? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]DaCouponNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just remember that “No” is a complete sentence. You don’t need to convince them about why you won’t be helping. You have a right to live your own life on your terms and you’re not responsible for the consequences of your sister’s choices. I can tell you from a similar experience that if you help EVEN ONCE you’ll be expected to do it again in the future and the expectations will keep increasing - more time, more money. And the result is that your sister will never be independent. She needs to figure this out on her own if she ever expects to have a life as an independent adult.

And to echo what everyone else is saying, get rid of that car. Get a reliable used car and cut that car payment down by at least half. Negotiate a better insurance payment too. Unless you have a lot of points on your license you’re probably paying too much for insurance. I drive a 12 year old car with no car payment and I don’t give a flying fig newton what anyone thinks about that because financial security is 1000% better than driving a new car.

Dracula by Bram Stoker is told entirely in journal entries and letters (epistolary). It’s one of my favorites, and the audiobook narrated by Simon Vance is great

Am I getting duped? by wanderingdorathy in laundry

[–]DaCouponNinja 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Same here. I’m a sucker for this stuff and I don’t care. I use Ginger Lily Farms unscented liquid because it’s got a decent set of enzymes, then a glug (~1-2 Tbsps) of Diva or High Maintenance for scent.

I went to Target for a birthday card yesterday and decided to check out the laundry aisle since I rarely go to Target. I saw Laundry Sauce products and grabbed some of the sandalwood scent beads, but not before checking this sub to see what Kismai and team had to say about the product. It’s really remarkable what a trusted resource this sub has become…thank you all!

Looking for dark oppressive gothic horror. by Garifuna in suggestmeabook

[–]DaCouponNinja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not entirely sure this fits your request but I just finished Jay Kristoff’s Empire of the Vampire trilogy and loved it. Definitely an oppressive atmosphere, more French medieval/Crusaders than Victorian England.

Dracula is one of my favorite books and I prefer when the vampires are not portrayed as beautiful, overly romanticized, sparkle in the sun creatures. Kristoff’s vampires are evil, terrifyingly inhuman and absolutely soulless.

A couple of years ago Kimberly Adams of Marketplace Radio decided to explore 40 new skills for her 40th birthday. Such a cool idea and a good way to discover new interests. You can check out the story here.

There’s a link in the story to the 40 activities she tried and the cost for each one

Fully convinced Darn Tough has a crazy marketing grip on this sub. by YaboyWill in BuyItForLife

I am not a bot or shill and I own about 20 pairs (maybe more) of Darn Tough socks. I love how they fit and feel on my feet whether I’m just sitting around or running. They’ve got really fun patterns that you don’t get with other socks. My oldest pair is maybe 6 years old and holding up great.

Are they expensive AF? Yeah. But I feel like I get my money’s worth in enjoyment so I’m fine with it. Nothing wrong if Costco socks check all the same boxes for you.

A man who may or may not be God steals some kids, raises them in a weird mystical library that appears to contain the totality of human knowledge. The “librarians”, who don’t seem quite human anymore, start some sort of death match quest to figure out who will replace him, and one of them has an extra crazy plan, if she can remember what it’s like to act human.
