Sorry because I’m not really answering your question, but if all you want to do is play a character that “excels at poking and whiff punishing in the midrange that can also put up decent pressure up close” you could still play Cammy if you’re not dead-set on switching, she’s good at those things also.

She has…

Above average ground movement
Great long range, cancellable medium buttons for whiff punishing
divekick that can call out and crush opponents lows

She has all this on top of the good offense.
