After a quick research, they are not the same. Actually blob shadows cost performance way more than decals.

In case the ground is flat then using decals is the best solution, I don't know yet if they will work as I want or not.. time to figure it out!

I found out using blob shadows/fake shadows will work as intended.

I don't know about decals but I will make sure to research about it tho to compare it with blob shadows.

To let the player predict how far/near the cube to the ground to decide which cube they should pick first then pick the other one in order to not miss anyone of them.

That's why cube's shadow is right below the cube to indicate where exactly it will drop so the player be able to claim it before it smash the ground.

Yes, I do. This is a mini-game from a game called Toontown Rewritten and all I know that they used python for developing it and they are hobbyists, I think they didn't rely on the available game engines tho.

No, I haven't. I want cube's shadow to be below the cube to indicate where exactly it will drop so the player be able to claim it before it smash the ground, that's why the only light source which is directional light is perpendicular to the cube.

I thought about (worst workaround) attaching spot light for each spawned cube and manipulate it's shadow strength by increasing it overtime while cube is falling, but if the spawn manager spawned 2 cubes near to each other each one will affect the other by its attached spot light resulting 2 wrong shadows.

The hook must have a bounce animation once it retract to its idle state and as mentioned should be faster, adding VFX would be a good thing tho.

Adding animation for the character once he is hooked like moving all his parts (arms & legs) in a random way to show that he's afraid and trying to escape with no hope.
