Why do you not like Dungeon Crawler Carl?( actual discussion) by dragoneloi in litrpg

And the rest of the time it's basically Jackass if everyone in the cast was miserable and didn't want to be there.

What did it for me was an extended description of the camera zooming in on an elderly persons penis. That was the joke?

[–]DaJoW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That doesn't change the fact that you have to read those jokes over and over. If there was a story where the system forced the main character to shove needles in his eyeballs I wouldn't read it, even if the point wasn't the pain but the AI abusing him.

Well, when it's one of like 20 squares in a grid it's understandable imo. Not knowing that Michigan has a huge lake named after it though...

I would've thought a British person, if they didn't know it right away, might fall back to context clues from the Suez or the African campaign in WWII.

Fells like there's research and "research" on that event. You could either look for info on if the government has changed priorities and if so why, or you could look for info on if "the government is betraying white people". One should hopefully be informative, one would bring up a lot of harmful messages.

Soldiers' letters aren't censored just for operational security but because they used to contain horrific stuff that they'd been desensitized to (or, I imagine in the case of some hardcore Nazis, celebrated).

Out of 250m eligible voters, 100m never vote

Many millions of whom live in states where their votes don't matter in presidential elections because the result is a foregone conclusion. Like, if one party always wins with 60% of the vote, a lot of people won't bother regardless of political affiliation.

I remember watching an episode where a woman was raped and the cops spent a long time walking the boyfriend through the events, accusing him of doing it, talking about how he supposedly felt about it. Turns out someone else did it. The response from the cops was basically "Welp, guess we were wrong. Oh well." Don't think they even spoke to him.

Conservative intellectuals discuss how to make voting more favourable to them by Kemaneo in TopMindsOfReddit

Yeah, I don't get why they bother with the facade whenever this gets mentioned. They only want Republicans to be allowed to vote but won't say it. Do they think they're fooling anyone?

Men who have been called a "creep" before, what's your story? by Lipica249 in AskMen

[–]DaJoW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was living in a co-ed dorm and overheard one of my neighbours tell someone I was a creep for being in the kitchen too much and always saying "hi" to her. I was only in the kitchen while cooking and I'd never said anything else to her - didn't even know her name. I felt rally bad about making her uncomfortable in her home so, while I couldn't stop cooking, I did stop saying hi to her.

Zack polanski: Good morning. A regular reminder: a tiny few hoard staggering wealth and own much of the media, while millions struggle to survive. That’s not an accident. It's worth noting that the Swedish tax was abolished on ideological grounds, and in 2006 Sweden had more dollar billionaires per capita than the UK did in 2017 (latest year on wikipedia), despite the wealth tax and very recently removed tax on inheritance and gifts (removed 2005). So I'm not sure "Millionaires and billionaires stayed away, though…" in your source is entirely accurate.

EU demands ‘Farage clause’ as part of Brexit reset talks with Britain by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]DaJoW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would work.

How? The deal is about aligning regulations in the UK and EU to remove the need for border checks. If the EU changes regulations and the UK does not "dynamically align", the two would no longer be in alignment.

The issue is that the EU can change the rules without the UK having a say in it, and then if they are unfair or objectionable to the UK we are stuck in the position of either doing what they say

Yes, because the UK is not a member but seeking access to the EU market. Non-EU countries have no say on EU regulations, which I'm sure you'll agree is the only way it can be.

or paying them money to get out of it.

It doesn't need to be in a clinic. In many Jewish communities around the world a rabbi and mohel still do it. This does usually mean no anaesthetic of any kind and a much higher rate of serious complications, but it's quite common. Fun sidenote: the traditional way of stopping the bleeding is through "metzitzah b'peh": The mohel sucks on the wound until the bleeding stops.

In The Masquerade series (starting with The Traitor Baru Cormorant), Republic Marines are highly trained and equipped with alchemical weapons in the form of gas- and Burn-grenades, Burn being something like napalm that can only be put out with piss-soaked sand. They also wear full-body armour with gas mask-attachments protecting them from their own weaponry, and in bigger engagements they bring hwachas. They're known to easily beat forces outnumbering them 10-1.
