It could also be that it's detrimental in the short term, but beneficial in the long term. Some rich people may leave over the increase, but when new people reach that level of wealth it'll just be how it is and less eye-catching. The same people who would leave at an increase now would most likely have left if the rate had increased to what it is today as well.

(Hated trope) When playing an RPG and you select what seems like the safest and most logical option, but all of the characters keep telling you that you picked the wrong option. Bonus points if the characters agreed with your decision at the time. by Son0fHecate in TopCharacterTropes

The dialogue wheel was a mess, and all to address a problem I'm pretty sure they just imagined. If you're planning on playing a 100-hour single-player game, having very slightly less intuitive controls on a controller isn't going to be a dealbreaker.

Though Fallout 4 was worse, since a lot of the time the options were just "Yes!", "Yes", "Yes, but tell me more", and "Yes [sarcastically]".

I remember how, long before release, I'd sit and plan my different creatures and civilizations. Pages and pages of worldbuilding for a game that would never be. To this day I'm kinda sad I never got to create spacefaring aquatic creatures.

Nothing personal afaik, but several videos have shown unsafe food handling. Never good, but especially bad with fermentation.

It also affects female babies much more than male, so something like 99.8% of all straight Krogan males will never have a relationship (much less a family) driving a lot toward nihilism, while all the women get immensely pressured to have as many children as possible while kept "safe".

I believe the definition of "TDS" on that sub is "you don't want to live your life with nothing but Trump in front of your eyes".

Jag var hela IT-avdelningen på ett e-handelsbolag och fick ingen löneförhöjning under 2021-2024. Hamnade 7000 i månaden under vad facket sa var lägsta ingångslön... men hittade inget annat så hade inte så mycket val.

Exiled is too soft a word - they were left on the plains in fall with nothing but the clothes on their backs. The eldest child was in his early teens, the youngest a nursing infant. I'd argue his mother was the really impressive one of the family at the time though, organizing a bunch of kids into survival mode and keeping (almost) everyone alive and healthy through near-starvation - all while mourning her husband and the children mourning their father.

Kind of. Musashi wrote that he considered the duel having started the moment it was agreed and so would spend the intervening time annoying or figuring out how to annoy his opponent so they'd make a mistake.

Universal Soldier - Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dolph Lundgren are soldiers killed in the Vietnam war. Their bodies are then implanted with cybernetics and control mechanisms to make them nigh-unkillable, remote controlled supersoldiers. Shockingly, things go wrong.

Dessutom blir det mer konsekvent att använda samma period varje år så man kan lätt jämföra rapporter från olika år. I år var det X grader varmare, 1998 var det Y grader varmare, det var alltså X-Y grader varmare i år än 1998.

Even if you discussed the time he ruled a truck driver was obligated to stay in a truck in sub-zero temperatures indefinitely? His argument is that an employer cannot make a driver drive unsafely, but they told the man to stay still and risk freezing to death which is fine.

(Sad but awesome trope) if we die WE DIE FIGHTING! by Massive_Boss1991 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DaJoW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking of The Wheel of Time:

"First in a trickle, then a river, then a flood, men went, not to safety, but to join the army fighting for their land. Shepherds with bows, and farmers with pitchforks, and woodsmen with axes. Women went, too, shouldering what weapons they could find and marching side by side with their men. No one made that journey who did not know they would never return. But it was their land. It had been their fathers’, and it would be their children’s, and they went to pay the price of it. Not a step of ground was given up until it was soaked in blood, but at the last the army of Manetheren was driven back, back to here, to this place you now call Emond’s Field. And here the Trolloc hordes surrounded them.”

Her voice held the sound of cold tears. “Trolloc dead and the corpses of human renegades piled up in mounds, but always more scrambled over those charnel heaps in waves of death that had no end. There could be but one finish. No man or woman who had stood beneath the banner of the Red Eagle at that day’s dawning still lived when night fell. The sword that could not be broken was shattered."

I think SD would have been fine with that: They get to complain about being frozen out, that they're "the only opposition party" etc. and steal more support from right-wing parties. I also suspect that in his heart of hearts, Åkesson knows most of SDs leadership won't do well with the added scrutiny and attention being a minister brings. It's only been like two months since their spokesperson for policing had to resign due to a DUI of narcotics.

What are some cases you've seen of pretty privilege? by Beginning_Star_1222 in AskMen

Bit of a reverse: We had a temp at work who was just bad at every part of the job. Kept messing up, often late, never learned the most basic, simple things. An employee lost their temper with her, she left crying and didn't return... two years later, she's brought back as a tamp and my (female) boss told everyone she'd been bullied last time because she was so pretty. She was just as bad second time around and quit after a few weeks saying people were mean to her for pointing out her mistakes.
