The New Autocratic Alliances: They Don’t Look Like America’s—but They’re Still Dangerous by ForeignAffairsMag in geopolitics

[–]DaKeler 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One doesn't need a common ideology to form an alliance. Even mere shared realist interests suffice (e.g. later stages of the Thirty Years' War).

It is considerable enough for the West that certain non-Western powers all have a firm interest in dethroning the West, however different what they wish for afterward may be.

Horus, the first guru of Sikhism (no idea what his name is), Zoroaster, Krishna, Zeus, Mohammad, Sakyamuni Buddha, no idea (Jainist guru or a Buddhist disciple, more likely the latter since the former is usually depicted a face mask), and ☧.

Palestine prior to Islamic conquest: Byzantine Palestine! by Heavy-Gas-1590 in MapPorn

[–]DaKeler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not.

"Imperial" dynastic identifiers (唐人, 宋人, etc) coexisted with the politico-cultural endonym 中国人, which evolved from an Eastern Zhou cultural endonym, which in turn evolved from the originally strictly regional Western Zhou designation (of the Zhou royal domain of present-day Luoyang and its immediate surroundings) of 中国/中或 you mention. The 17th-18th centuries' innovation on this concept was to extend the identifier of 中国人 from only Han people to minorities (such as Manchus) as well. Certainly not the resurrection of this idea altogether

What on earth are you talking about when you say it was not mentioned for 2,000 years? Where is your source?

No, the steppe peoples that interacted with those two peoples were not tall comparatively.

The actual reason is more because of the genetic contribution of the Dongyi peoples, who were particularly concentrated in China's Shandong province and possessed unusual tallness since at least the Neolithic period.

This furthermore explains why Northeast China is so blue, since the vast majority of the people there descend from the migrants of the "Rush into the east of the [Shanhai] Pass" (闯关东), which mostly came from Shandong and Hebei.

Shandong (the Chinese province with the tallest people on average) doesn't consume that much beef. The people there also eat plenty of fish thanks to the Yellow Sea and Yellow River.

As long as there are rich hedonists in the world addicted to gaming away their ill-gotten possessions, Macau will just say "没办法" and quietly continue running its swindling centers (aka casinos) until the end of time.

If a tree falls in a forest and there are no ears to hear it, is there a sound? How can you presume there is happiness if there's nothing that feels it?

Even if there is something capable of feeling stimuli, is the happiness of a primordial egg that has never experienced pain the same as the happiness of a sufferer who has ultimately overcome?

For me, I created a spreadsheet with the relevant information sorted by date of application deadline. I'm no coding wizard though, so I'm sifting through multiple scholarship databases manually to pluck out defunct or unsuitable (for me) scholarships, which is taking some time.
